A New Day floral scarf

Disclosure: This post contains affiliate links. I receive commission for clicks and purchases made through them.

I recently added this A New Day scarf from Target to my collection. I had vowed not to add another scarf this year because it doesn't really get cold enough to wear them, but this one was a perfect match to the one on the GYPO shopping list and with the outfits, so I knew it would go perfectly with my existing outfits. It's also light enough to get away with wearing it in warmer temps if I keep it away from my neck, as I did here. (I can't find this exact one online so I've linked up some similar scarves below.)

Spring trend- ruffles

Ruffles are back in a big way as a Spring trend this year. And I mean big. A few years ago ruffles were popular, but they were smaller ruffles. This time it's large ruffle sleeves and hems. Check out these picks to get you on trend for under $100 this spring.

Happy Fall! I think we are all waiting for some cooler temps and a chance to change up the wardrobe. Fall is finally here on the calendar. We've still got highs on the 80's but today is actually a nice day with a cool feel to it so I'm hopeful.

I actually wore this outfit a couple of weeks ago when I caved to social media pressure to start wearing fall items. All of these pieces have been in my closet for a few years. Ruffles are a return trend for this fall, so I'm ready with my button up ruffle blouse in browns and rust. I'm not as crazy about ruffles as I used to be but I'm glad I kept this top. (See how I've worn it before HERE.)

Anyone miss me a couple of days last week? I missed posting a couple of days and I miss having time to reply to comments and interact with you all. Life...just...gets hectic.

We are having the chilliest spring ever, or at least that I remember. So here I am in layers and suede booties that I normally would not be sporting this time of year. I'm not complaining though- it's better than sweating. Ruffles are on trend for this spring so I'm glad I've kept this lightly ruffled layered tee (seen before here)  around through my many closet purges. Tees don't see much wear in my wardrobe so I keep pairing down to just a few basic ones, but I like having this one as an option because it's just a step above for when you need something a little more dressy than just a plain tee.

What elevated basics do you have around in your wardrobe? Leave me a comment, I'd love to know.

Ruffles and flats

I feel pretty strongly that most dressy outfits, especially ones with fancy ruffles, look better with heels. And some casual outfits look better with flats, booties, or something other than heels. This outfit would have been better with heels, but my poor feet just felt like wearing flats. Sometimes comfort wins out over looks.

Blue and grey

Suit- Ross; shirt TJMaxx; booties- Sears
Worn: Sept. 17, 2012

I'm still not sure where I got the blue/grey combo inspiration from but I decided to pair the ruffle shirt with my pinstripe suit. The booties add a little fun to it.  I know blue/grey is nothing new or revolutionary, but remember I used to only wear certain items one way. This suit was worn with a purple shirt and this shirt was only worn with a navy suit. I've really come a long way in how I view my closet. Getting dressed is creative and fun, not just a necessity.
