How to wear colored denim and Five for Friday

Colored denim- it's been in and out of my closet and life over the last ten years. I've had green jeans and hot pink jeans. Colored denim or bright pants seem to have a renewed interest this spring so I added a pair of Old Navy Mid-rise pop color Rockstars in coral pink to my closet.

Two ways to wear leopard print to the office

Leopard print has become an accepted neutral. It's earthy tones pair well with most other colors and it's also a great pattern for pattern mixing. It can also easily be worn to the office, even a conservative office like mine. The key is in picking structured, classic pieces. Here are two ways to wear leopard print to the office.

Burgundy, black and camel

All I want to wear this fall and winter to work are my camel blazer or burgundy blazer and grey pants. So here's the camel blazer again.

Welcome to 9 to 5 Style! The third  Monday of every month Jennie of A Pocketful of Polka Dots and I will showcase a theme featuring our individual takes on a professional look. Our aim is to inspire and show professional style does not have to mean boring and without personality. We hope you enjoy our 9 to 5 Style!

This month we are showing you how to wear leopard print to the office. I love leopard and it's pretty much a neutral. It definitely can be worn to the office when paired with the right pieces.

How to wear a leopard print pencil skirt to work

This is a pretty basic office look: pencil skirt, shell/tee, blazer, pumps. But this look isn't boring because the pencil skirt is leopard print.

I bought this leopard print  top back during the summer. I bought it on sale and with coupons and only paid around $6 for it.

Outfit formula

Sweater- (old) Loft option  option
skirt- The Limited (old)  option  option  option
shoes- Banana Republic (old)   option  option
clutch- Nordstrom  option  option  option
bracelet- Kendra Scott

This is an outfit formula I've relied on before- pencil skirt and sweater+ heels.  Since this sweater makes it's own statement, I went with more of a statement heel instead of adding a necklace. I also threw on a couple of other interesting pieces, like the Kendra Scott ring and cuff. The ring was from my last Rocksbox. I hated to send it back but relented and did so. Maybe it will be on my wish list again.  Have you tried Rocksbox? It's fun to get mail that's not bills, and you can try it out for a month free with code FONDABFF. Treat yourself in the New Year!

All things fall

tee- Old Navy
skirt- Old Navy   option   option   option
clutch- Nordstrom  option   option   splurge
necklace- Rocksbox
bracelet- JCP  option   option
booties- Piper Lime  option  option  option  option

Denim, utility vest, grey tee, booties, leopard- those are all things fall for me. Scarves, sweaters and tall boots are "fantasy fall" where I live and sometimes even "fantasy winter" lol. So for my fall weather, I keep the layers light and the colors neutral to fall colored. I love these peep toe booties and have been on the hunt for a similar pair in black to add to my collection, maybe with a lower heel.

Thank goodness it's Friday! Who would have ever thought I'd say that on a week of vacation? It's our anniversary but instead of our usual vacation, we've spent the week cleaning up after Hermine and Matthew, those naughty boys. As I type, I'm waiting for the carpet installers to show up and install carpet. Then we can move furniture back into that room and hopefully by the end of the weekend the house will be back to normal and clutter free.

Basics and neutrals for fall

shoes- Payless  option  option  option
necklace- Rocksbox  option
bracelet- Kendra Scott  option

Yes, I'm calling this basics and neutrals because leopard is a neutral. I love it year round but gravitate towards it more in the fall. And a grey tee is a great basic to have, especially for my fall, not "Fantasy Fall" as Caroline from Un-Fancy would say.  We don't all have the boots, sweaters, scarves kind of fall (heck I don't get too much of that in winter) so we have to dress for the fall we have. Looks like mine is going to start out in the high 80's or 90s. This tee is perfect. It's the linen blend tee from Old Navy and has great drape and shape, loose but not sloppy. I want one in every color. As for the skirt, get used to it. I'm sure you will see it a lot. I can think of three more outfits off the top of my head without even going to my closet.

I'm getting as much wear out of this necklace as I can. It's a  Rocksbox exclusive (Try out Rocksbox for a month free with code FONDABFF). I will eventually be returning it because it's a bit out of my price range but I love it.

Happy long weekend! Here are my Labor Day weekend sale picks, all with a look to the upcoming fall season. Macy's is offering up to and extra 20% off with code SUPER. I am in love with those two piece oxfords. They are going on my wish list. How cute would they be with a pair of boyfriend jeans, a white tee, and that faux leather moto jacket? Take another 20% off the jacket at Lord and Taylor with code LABORDAY.

Loft is having a buy one, get one 50% off sale on some items, extra 50% off sale items and my favorite jeans are at one of their lowest price points, no code needed. I scooped up this cute scarf yesterday for $7 and some change.

JCrew factory is having a 50% off sale. I jumped the gun and ordered the sleeveless sweater a couple of weeks ago at 40% off and I'm keeping it. It's soft with a nice structured fit. Not too sloppy or slouchy. The skirt is on it's way to me now because I outgrew (lol) my other leopard print skirt.

Happy Shopping! Let me know what deals you find!

Cold shoulder, twists, and a link up

Hi everyone. I'm excited because today I'm doing something different. If you follow me, then you know that obviously I did something different with my hair. I rarely ever style it but in it's regular cut, but I decided to go a little boho and pull the "bangs" back in some twists.

But that's not all that's different. Today I'm cohosting Jersey Girl Texan Heart's link up! I've decided to step out and do something a little different with the blog. I do hope you will go visit Monica and follow her on her social channels. She is the sweetest girl with the cutest, most fun sense of style. She has always left me the most encouraging comments, and I love following her blog. I'm honored to be cohosting with her today. Be sure to link up below.

As for the hair, it's quite simple to do. Grab a small section of "bangs" or hair in the front on each side and twist them towards the back. Meet each twist in the middle at the crown and secure with a clear tiny rubber band.  Done.  Head out and have some fun.
