9 to 5 Style

Happy Spring ya'll! I'm so excited about today for more than one reason. I'm ready to wear full on spring fashion. Last week's cold spell was not fun. I had to pull out sweaters and I had mentally given up on cold weather so it was not fun. I usually struggle with spring fashion, but this year I've added a few new pieces to my closet and I'm excited to wear them. Spring is usually a very short season for us, and then it's full on hot and humid before the calendar even says summer, but we will see how this year goes.

Besides the fact that it's spring, I'm excited to introduce a new feature to the blog today. I've collaborated with Jennie from A Pocket Full of Polka Dots to bring you 9 to 5 Style every third Monday of the month. If you need office outfit ideas, or you are looking for new ways to style your office wear pieces, then check our new feature. We will be taking turns picking an item and we will both style it for you. I can't wait to see how this goes. I love Jennie's fun yet polished style and I can't wait to see how we will style the same pieces.

Welcome to 9 to 5 Style! The third  Monday of every month Jennie of A Pocketful of Polka Dots and I will showcase a theme featuring our individual takes on a professional look. Our aim is to inspire and show professional style does not have to mean boring and without personality. We hope you enjoy our 9 to 5 Style!

Weekend sale picks

There are some great sales going on this weekend. It's a great time to snag some new releases and start thinking about spring. I know, I know spring may be a long way off for some of you but it seems like we skipped winter here so I'm looking on to spring. You can wear some of these pieces now and later.

Best of 2016

Hello everyone! Are you looking forward to a New Year? We sure are. But before I move ahead, I wanted to show you top 10 most viewed posts on Savvy Southern Chic. These are not necessarily my favorites, but based on views, these are yours.

10. Camel and Navy  I pair a lot with navy, but camel and navy is a great combo.

The one I didn't love

Blazer- Belk  option
top- Nordstrom   option
pants- Limited
shoes- Ann Klein  similar
bracelet- Kendra Scott

After I got this outfit on and wore it a couple of hours, I didn't like it at all. It  just didn't feel right. I'm not sure what it is. Maybe it's the shoes? Maybe the pants- I'm so over these pants and have just purchased a couple of new navy pairs to replace these. This length only works well with lower heels. I've never been a fan of the flare leg either. I love a good full trouser leg, but I've never been crazy about these. I've styled them multiple times on the blog, because if you work in an office environment, you will likely wear a navy suit or navy pants. I paid good money for them, so I hated to toss them right away. But I've gotten three years of wear from them, so they are going bye-bye. I'm not sure if I will ever recreate this outfit with the new navy pants either. I love the blouse and the blouse and blazer coordinate but I just don't love this. I may however try this blouse and blazer with a red skirt or pants. What do you think? Should I?

Even though I didn't love this outfit, I'm sharing it anyway, because this blog is real and this is what I really wear. You will see it all here- the good, the bad, and the ugly. Maybe someone else will love it as we all have different styles and tastes. Maybe someone can take inspiration from it, but make it better. I recently received a sweet comment from a reader thanking me for keeping it real. Thank you for your sweet comment Missy Mackenzie. This is definitely real today, lol.

Happy Fall Ya'll

Blazer- Loft  option  option

shoes- TJMaxx  option  option
bracelets- made by me  option  option  option

Happy Fall! I think we are all waiting for some cooler temps and a chance to change up the wardrobe. Fall is finally here on the calendar. We've still got highs on the 80's but today is actually a nice day with a cool feel to it so I'm hopeful.

I actually wore this outfit a couple of weeks ago when I caved to social media pressure to start wearing fall items. All of these pieces have been in my closet for a few years. Ruffles are a return trend for this fall, so I'm ready with my button up ruffle blouse in browns and rust. I'm not as crazy about ruffles as I used to be but I'm glad I kept this top. (See how I've worn it before HERE.)

necklace- JCrew Factory
Bracelet- Ann Taylor

I'm sure I've posted something very similar to this on the blog before, so if you recognize it as a repeat, my apologies.  While I do like to show you new ways to wear items, the truth is, I repeat outfits or similar versions all the time. It's life. It is getting out the door on time. I love this jacket and I've worn it a multitude of ways.

I do know for certain you haven't seen this necklace before,  unless you are following me on Instagram. The necklace is new. It's on major sale right now. Long necklaces have become my go to accessories for work attire.

Camel trousers for the summer

Blazer- Forever21  option  option
blouse- TJMaxx  option  option
pants- The Limited
shoes- Payless  option  option
necklace - JCrew Factory
bracelets- JCP, made by me   option  option

I typically think of camel as a color for fall and winter, yet I wear my camel trousers year round. They are a perfect neutral to pair with summer brights like this cobalt blazer and patterned top. I don't mean to overload you with this necklace, but once I received it, it fell into heavy rotation.

Do you ever feel like your days just become repeats? Get up, work out, work, grocery store, home, blog, dinner, dishes, bed. That's what I anticipate today will be like. If something goes wrong, I will regret being bored with the daily routine, but sometimes it becomes monotonous. Do you ever break up your routine during the week? What do you do to make it more interesting?

Just a quick little round up of some things that have made Instagram lately but won't be making the blog. It doesn't seem like we had much of a weekend. We made a trip to see my family for a belated birthday party and then the hubby had to work Sunday. And now July is gone...Hello August!  Not wishing my life away, but looking forward to another weekend.

Hope you have a great week!
