I love wearing skirts in the spring. When the temps rise, it's time to bare legs. Pencil skirts are perfect for the office. Pops of blue make this the perfect spring office outfit.

When the holiday season rolls around I like to dress in festive outfits, but a conservative office dress code means I can't go over the top with Christmas sweaters and such. So how do you dress festively for the office? Jennie and I are here to show you how with this month's edition of 9 to 5 Style.

How to wear a leopard print pencil skirt to work

This is a pretty basic office look: pencil skirt, shell/tee, blazer, pumps. But this look isn't boring because the pencil skirt is leopard print.

I usually pick out my outfit for work the night before. Sometimes, however, I just don't have time, or I am just too tired. This was one of those nights and mornings. I didn't pick out anything and was running short on time for ironing, so I took a quick look around the closet and came out with this. Thanks to Classy Yet Trendy's ebooks, this was pretty much a no brainer. The cardigan was worn during the spring for many of my outfits that I put together from the Workwear Capsule Wardrobe: Spring 2017.  I definitely recommend checking out the ebooks for fall- Essential capsule, French minimalist, and work wear, even if you don't follow them to the letter as a capsule. So in a pinch, grab a cardigan, top, and pencil skirt. Add some accessories. Done.

SO... I've been displaced for four days now due to Irma. I think our property has fared okay, just more fences and trees down. Not sure about the inside- we took in water during Matthew last year in a couple of rooms through the windows. We took extra precautions this year, so we will see, when we are finally allowed back. I'm on four days with my in-laws who have never been my favorite people. I'm gracious for a safe place to be, but really? what happened to disciplining children and pets? We have our dog and she minds well. No she is not comfortable with her situation, but she will quieten down when we tell her to. I've had to listen to another dog bark in the house with us for nearly 24 hours and her owner refused to even say anything to her "because it won't do any good". ???? "The dog is just in a strange place and we will have to get used to it." What? I'm in a strange place too. Can't wait to go back to peace and quite even if it's wet.

This is an outfit formula I've relied on before- pencil skirt and sweater+ heels.  Since this sweater makes it's own statement, I went with more of a statement heel instead of adding a necklace. I also threw on a couple of other interesting pieces, like the Kendra Scott ring and cuff. The ring was from my last Rocksbox. I hated to send it back but relented and did so. Well,  that was a cheesy post title but I've never claimed to be good at catchy titles. This outfit does incorporate a trench and a fall colored pencil skirt, along with one of my go to button down blouses. I bet I can't even count how many times or ways I've worn this shirt. That would probably make a fun post to round up all the ways. It's a little difficult to find sleeveless trenches to link up, but this trench vest would look equally well with a pencil skirt and make other cute fall outfits.

 

You may notice something wrong with my right eye. I have had "inflammation" in it for the past week. It actually started a week prior with a sinus infection, cleared up then came back after the sinus infection was gone. The doctor says it is not infected, but it's inflammation. Other than the sinus infection, I can't really find a cause. Sometimes this condition is linked to other inflammatory conditions in the body but I don't have any of those. Nonetheless, I have had this red, sometimes painful eye for a week. It is beginning to get better, but I'd appreciate a few prayers for full healing.
