I love wearing skirts in the spring. When the temps rise, it's time to bare legs. Pencil skirts are perfect for the office. Pops of blue make this the perfect spring office outfit.

5 reasons to join the GYPO Spring 2018 Challenge

Disclosure: This post contains affiliate links. I receive commission for clicks and purchases made through them.

The GYPO Spring 2018 Capsule Wardrobe is now open and available for purchase. If you have never joined a challenge of this type, here are five reasons why you should.

1. This one is better than ever! Seriously, I signed up for an annual membership so I already have full access. You get 31 days of outfits. This one gives you lots of color substitution options if the chosen color palette doesn't work for you and it also gives you ways to take the daily prompts and dress it up if you need an office outfit instead of a casual one. Can't wear white jeans to work? No problem, sub white trousers or ankle pants.

2. Spring is a new and fun season. If you want to update your wardrobe but not get too trendy, then the Spring 2018 Capsule Wardrobe is for you. The GYPO team has picked out some fun trendy items and mixed them with classic basics. You will get a full shopping list of links. You still get options, but your shopping will be focused and you will actually end up with pieces that create multiple outfits.

3. You don't have to buy a bunch of clothes. Chances are you have many of the items in your closet. I always do, but yet I get inspiration for a new way to wear those pieces!

4. The private Facebook group! These are real women, with real jobs and real lives. Not superstar bloggers who wear tulle skirts and 4 inch heels to heaven only knows where.   Once you join in on the private Facebook group I just know that you’ll understand why I love this program so much. Not only is it making style easy, but it is building up a community of kind and caring women who support each other on their style (and life) journeys each and every day

5.Still not sure? You can try out the program risk free for the first 7 days of outfits. I am confident you will love what you see, but the refund option is available if needed. If you stick with it, you will also get the Spring 2017 challenge as a bonus!

Hope you have a great weekend!

Weekend sale picks

Doesn't it seem like there is always a sale? Usually there is, but there is an awesome sale at JCrew Factory this weekend, 50% off! Now is a great time to get a long crystal pendant. It's perfect with your work attire and I wear mine all the time.

I've rounded up my picks from the sales there, and from Loft, Ann Taylor (40% off tops code TOPS40) and Old Navy- the Harper pant is $25! I threw in a couple of markdowns from Zappos too.

Pastels and brights

Blazer- Limited
blouse- Target- old  option  option
pants- Loft
belt- Dorothy Perkins  option  option
necklace Sears  option
earrings- Sears option  option
shoes- Payless  option  option   option

I paired my rose quartz blazer with a mix of brights and pastels. I liked this better than I thought I would. I didn't think I'd really like it with black pants, but I was throwing this together at the last minute and just went with it. Sometimes getting dressed is a combination of what's clean and needs the least ironing. Anyone else have those days?

I purchased this blouse last year at TJMaxx and it became part of my spring wardrobe capsule. I wore it a couple of ways, to include wearing it with these pants and shoes and a mint blazer. It was pretty much the same outfit, just a different blazer. One piece can make such a difference. I received compliments on this all day long on this outfit. I don't remember anyone noticing last year.

37 piece spring work capsule

I've finally narrowed down my choices for a spring work capsule. I've decided to give the capsule option a go from now until June 20. I started utilizing pieces in the capsule April 1. I've finally got the pieces together to show you. Boy, was it hard. I wanted to include so many but had to keep telling myself this is just for spring and there is still summer coming. I did not want to photograph each item so I've made sets of similar or the same item from the internet. My apologies to those of you who saw my strange polyvore posts. I don't use polyvore much so it was a learning curve for me.

On to the capsule: I am going to create my work outfits from 37 pieces for the aforementioned time frame. I decided not to include casual weekend pieces in my capsule because my weekend needs fluctuate so much. I may eventually get around to settling on another casual capsule but for now I'll just play with the work wear. I did not include shoes or accessories. Those are free range. My self imposed rules are that I can swap out two pieces at the end of thirty days if these just aren't working. I'm also allowing myself to utilize pieces not in the capsule on two occasions if necessary as long as one capsule item is still included in the outfit. Want to play along? Feel free to and let me know in the comments.

Here are my choices: 11 tops

Gingham, florals and two ways to wear a skirt

Shirt- Jones New York/ TJMaxx similar
skirt- Old Navy (old) similar
shoes- Payless similar
necklace- Our World Boutique similar
Worn March 23, 2014

We had spring like temps last Sunday so I busted out the florals, gingham and new sandals. I bought this shirt last year to wear with a floral skirt, but the color was not close enough to properly print mix. So, the shirt was worn with jeans and then hung in the closet. One day while just browsing around in my closet, these two pieces caught my eye and I thought, well look, this shirt goes with that skirt. Saved! Used for it's original purpose. Of course, it can be worn many other ways, I just wanted to mix prints.

I got many compliments on this outfit at church. I was rather surprised. While I liked my look, I didn't expect anyone else to pay much attention. I wish the photos did this more justice. The lighting in this spot is really bright and bounces and reflects in all directions because of the concrete. I like this spot, but I'm having to work hard to learn to control the lighting so everything isn't so washed out. Thus, outfit photos turn into photography lessons.

And speaking of print mixing, let's talk about REmixing. This skirt has become a favorite of mine because it lends itself to so many outfits. A couple of years ago I used it as a transitional piece. (May have to do that again if we have another dip into the 30s like last week.)
