Aztec track pants

I bought this shirt last week at Forever21 when I had a chance to go to a store. It comes in other colors (cobalt, red) but I cannot find it online. I have been looking for a perforated or open weave piece to add to my wardrobe and this one fit my needs.

Now let's talk more about these pants. I bought them on the same trip. I was not trying to create an outfit with the two pieces, but they work together for a sporty chic look. What I was looking for was a pair of "soft pants". When track pants hit the scene, I instantly said "no" to myself. Just one of those pieces that no matter how you wear them, they are still what they are- track pants, and track pants are not an item of fashionable wear (like flip flops- sorry ladies, well talk about that later.) I was not going to go there. But I was growing more interested in a soft flowy pair of pants. About 15 years ago, I had a pair- black with a little flower print- and I wore them ALL THE TIME. I LOVED THEM. So comfortable and easy to dress up or down. So I definitely wanted to get back in on that trend (isn't it funny how trends come around in 10, 15, 20 or even 30  year waves?)
I found some pants that I liked in the juniors department (should I admit that? I'm 40.) The funny thing is I ended up liking the elastic bottom ones that are like track pants more than the others. So here you have it, I'm wearing track pants. And they are so comfortable, I think I'm in pajamas.

Black, white and cobalt

Finally- a pair of white pants. For the past two to three years, I have tried on numerous pairs of white pants. It's one of those items that has to fit just right and can't be too thin. I got serious about finding a pair of white pants this year because I keep pinning outfits with white bottoms. I tried out pairs from Gap, Limited and Loft. Just like with the boyfriend jeans and the white jeans, Loft won! The pants I tried from each retailer passed the test on not being "see through" but the fit was not right from Gap or Limited.

This first debut of the white pants was inspired by a display I saw at Macy's. Sometimes a shopping trip is a success without a purchase. The displays can be sources of outfit inspiration. I saw a black/white graphic top paired with cobalt and instantly thought of this blouse in my closet. To kick it up, I added the striped pumps.

When boyfriend jeans first came out, I wasn't interested. But when I became interested, it was like I had to find a pair now. And I tried a few before I decided these Loft chambray boyfriend jeans were for me. I tried the Gap Sexy boyfriend and loved the look and fit... until I tried to sit down. Too much crack showing. Seriously. The rise is too low for a curvy girl. So then I tried a pair at Target. No go. Then I ordered the Loft deconstructed boyfriend jeans. They fit great, but I was afraid I would not wear them as much as I would a pair without the distressing. I was tickled when they released these chambray boyfriend jeans. They are soft and comfy and you will see them again.

Thanks for stopping by.

Bermuda shorts and sandals

Cardigan- Old Navy   option
shirt- Loft option option
shorts- Ross option option option
sandals- Payless option option
Worn May 18, 2014

It's past the middle of May and this is the first time I've put on shorts to wear outside the house. That's really odd for this area. And I'm wearing this mint cardigan again. I was going grocery shopping and stores can sometimes be cold when it's warm out. I must admit I was inspired by this Land's End outfit I pinned and the color scheme in this one too.

I'm glad to see bermudas and longer shorts back in style. I've had these in my closet for a few years, even before longer shorts were stylish. I almost quit wearing shorts for a while because they did not make any age appropriate lengths. I still love a good skirt too.

Mint and Navy

Blazer- JCrew Factory
skirt- Target option
shoes- TJMaxx
necklace-JCrew Factory
Worn May 12, 2014

I was prepared to totally copy J's outfit but at the last minute I switched the cardigan for the blazer. It was hot and humid and I felt like the blazer would breathe better than the snugger fitting cardigan. I love the results. I've also upgraded my thrift store navy pencil skirt for this one from Target. The thrift store find had an elastic waist and wasn't always the most flattering to me.

How do you wear a tunic?

How do you wear a tunic? I bought this top a few years ago and have only worn it like this and with long black pants. It's one of those items that I wear once a year. It was a clearance purchase back when I made random purchase because they were "cheap" without much thought to how I would actually wear them. I get compliments on this top when I do wear it, but it's probably not getting the best use. Any ideas? (Seriously, leave me your comments or links to some ideas for this top. I'd love to have your opinion.)
