If you are a regular reader, then you probably recognized right away that this is not my signature look. Nonetheless, sometimes it's fun to try a different look. I started out with booties but they just weren't comfortable so I switched to my sneakers. I love these shoes and they have been a go to for "off duty" casual attire lately. Once I went with the sneakers, I decided what the heck, since I've got a sporty thing going on with the stripes and sneaks, I may as well throw on the beanie. I do like to wear a beanie once in a while in the winter, but I'm not so sure it really looks all that good on me. Maybe I'm too old for it. I was going to be outside in the cold night air, so the beanie stayed, regardless of looks. Sometimes function wins over fashion.

It's All Good

I really wanted to wear a more fall like sweatshirt version of this outfit, but with temps in the high 80's last week, that wasn't an option. If you're stuck in the southern states like me, maybe this will be a little inspiration to you. If you have cooler temps, add a denim or moto jacket. I think either one would be cute. At least I can be grateful for the opportunity to wear this tee I picked up on clearance just before I did the 30x30 challenge.

Aztec track pants

I bought this shirt last week at Forever21 when I had a chance to go to a store. It comes in other colors (cobalt, red) but I cannot find it online. I have been looking for a perforated or open weave piece to add to my wardrobe and this one fit my needs.

Now let's talk more about these pants. I bought them on the same trip. I was not trying to create an outfit with the two pieces, but they work together for a sporty chic look. What I was looking for was a pair of "soft pants". When track pants hit the scene, I instantly said "no" to myself. Just one of those pieces that no matter how you wear them, they are still what they are- track pants, and track pants are not an item of fashionable wear (like flip flops- sorry ladies, well talk about that later.) I was not going to go there. But I was growing more interested in a soft flowy pair of pants. About 15 years ago, I had a pair- black with a little flower print- and I wore them ALL THE TIME. I LOVED THEM. So comfortable and easy to dress up or down. So I definitely wanted to get back in on that trend (isn't it funny how trends come around in 10, 15, 20 or even 30  year waves?)
I found some pants that I liked in the juniors department (should I admit that? I'm 40.) The funny thing is I ended up liking the elastic bottom ones that are like track pants more than the others. So here you have it, I'm wearing track pants. And they are so comfortable, I think I'm in pajamas.

A little sporty chic

shirt- Macy's option option option

worn May 1, 2014

I had a couple of days off last week and Thursday was the perfect day to wear my new slip on sneakers to run errands. I have not had sneakers, other than my running shoes, in years. I have fallen in love with this new trend. Finally comfortable shoes that are stylish and don't look like you are going to the gym. I paired them with a striped shirt for a little bit of a "sporty chic" look. I actually wanted to wear a different striped tee, but this is the one I found when I opened the dresser drawer.
