Bangs and bobby pins

Blazer- JCrew Factory option  option
blouse- Target
trousers- Loft  option
shoes- Payless  option  option
worn May 28, 2015

I got aggravated with my bangs (or that section that used to be but has grown out now) hanging in my face at work so I dug around in  my purse and found a bobby pin. I pulled them back, over, twisted a little and inserted the bobby pin. What's your favorite way to pin bangs?

This is another version of what I've worn before, replacing  the cardigan with a blazer. Not very creative, but I was dressed for the day.

Mint for business- two ways

scarf- Books a Million  option  option  option
shirt- Forever21 option  option  option
blazer / pants- Limited
shoes- Kenneth Cole Reaction via TJMaxx  option
worn March 27, 2015

I wore this to a work meeting on Friday. Since we were away from our normal work location, I thought I'd push the envelope a little with a more casual shirt and scarf and flats, but still manage to keep it in the business attire realm. I think it worked. Who says you can't have a little pattern mixing in your business attire? And yes, you read that correctly- the scarf came from Books A Million a few years back.

Here's a look back at the scarf with a mint blazer:

Coral, mint and chevron

Blazer- Forever 21  option  option

necklace- Forever 21  option  option
Worn March 20, 2015

Coral, cobalt, mint, chevron and floral!!??? How much more goodness and how many more trends can you pack into one garment? I saw this blouse at TJMaxx a few weeks ago. It pretty much called my name from the rack, but I ignored it and left it there. I kept thinking about it and decided that it would mix with four or five other items in my closet so I went back and purchased it. It was then that I realized that in addition to all my favorite spring colors, this blouse had chevron and florals in the print. Score!

In celebration of spring, I wore this blouse with my coral blazer on Friday. For some reason the lighting is making my blazer look more of a salmon pink color, but trust me, it's coral. And this top is so cute. The top has a keyhole back with ties to tie a little bow at the neckline. I must wear it sometime without a blazer so it can be seen.

JCrew Inspired

Sweater- Loft (thrifted) option
pants- Belks option option
necklace- JCrew Factory  option
worn Nov. 24, 2014

This outfit was inspired completely by the JCrew Factory website. I've worn this sweater with navy before but when I saw the inspiration outfit, grey was the obvious choice. Sometimes I miss the obvious. The best thing was that I was able to pull everything straight from my closet. I love how well the silver shoes work with this.

A pop of neon

Top- Target option option
pants- JCPenney option option
belt- Target option option
shoes- Ann Klein - Belks similar
Worn June 16, 2014

I based this outfit loosely on this version by Simply Lulu. Of course my shirt is different, and a different shade, but the idea still works. That's the beauty of inspiration- you don't have to completely copy someone, but you can use a look you like to create your own.

I was told by a coworker I needed yellow shoes. I don't think I would take neon that far. Would you?

I've got several coral/mint outfit ideas pinned on my boards, so I've been searching for a mint necklace. I picked this one up the other day at Forever 21. It works for a delicate look, but I think I need something a little bolder with this outfit. Oh well... what's a girl to do? Keep shopping!

Mint and Navy

Blazer- JCrew Factory
skirt- Target option
shoes- TJMaxx
necklace-JCrew Factory
Worn May 12, 2014

I was prepared to totally copy J's outfit but at the last minute I switched the cardigan for the blazer. It was hot and humid and I felt like the blazer would breathe better than the snugger fitting cardigan. I love the results. I've also upgraded my thrift store navy pencil skirt for this one from Target. The thrift store find had an elastic waist and wasn't always the most flattering to me.

Red lips

Cardigan- Old Navy option
skirt- thrifted option
shoes- Belks similar
clutch- Target option
Worn April 13, 2014

My lips are really red in these photos, partly because the lighting is washing out the other colors. Oh well. I cannot take any credit for this outfit. It's a total copy of Petite Career Girl. I would have never thought to pair mint and red and definitely not with the stripes. But I love it! I made it my own version with a lighter color clutch and wedges.

Happy Easter! I wish you all the joy and peace this day brings!

Mint

Blazer- Ross
shirt- Sears
pants/shoes- Belks
necklace JCrew Factory
Worn March 19, 2014

Even though the temperatures didn't say spring, I forged ahead and added a touch of spring to my wardrobe with a mint blouse last week. Slowly, slowly, we are getting there.  I also picked up this necklace at a great price last month and I'm looking forward to wearing it again with my mint and lavendar items.

Yeah, that's a cheesy title, but I love the combination of mint and navy. I was pleased that I thought about putting these pieces together. They made a fun work outfit for a Friday.

I also thought I'd let you know I'm selling some of my gently worn clothing that is now too large for me. I've got these jeans and these listed on ebay here and here.
