A little different

If you follow me here or on Instagram, then you probably recognize that this look is little different for me. I rarely wear anything like this because I'm super conscious of my round (chubby) arms and shoulders. I won this dress in an Instagram challenge sponsored by  ShoptheBYB and I promised Amy I'd blog about the dress. Now that I have received the dress, I can say  I'd be blogging about this little number even if I had not won it.

I had four choices and they were all so cute that I had a hard time choosing one, but I went with this So Chic dress. I love the embroidered hem. This dress is of high quality and it's lined. It's super comfy and cool. Perfect for a hot summer day or evening. I felt so good in it, I could get over my self consciousness of my arms and shoulders.

I dressed up the look a little with wedges, statement earrings and my new Kendra Scott Elisa necklace. This dress is super versatile and would be cute with flat sandals and a denim vest or jacket for a more casual look.

Just a pretty basic work outfit- pants, button up shirt, black trousers. Some days this is what it takes for the job before me. But that doesn't mean the button up has to be white or that it has to be totally boring. I love this jewel tone purple button up. It's gotten a good bit of mileage and wear, along with these other pieces. My pendant is really old but the necklace is new. I have a few pendants that came on short chains or chokers, but the new thing is long necklaces so I requested a sterling chain for my birthday and my husband obliged.

How do you wear stripes on stripes? With seersucker! It's the perfect tiny stripe base for any bolder stripe.

Something about Labor Day draws me to red, white and blue. Maybe it's because those colors, especially in stripes, will always say summer to me.

Are you looking forward to this weeked? Sales? travel? bar b ques? Or just relaxing with a day off? I'm looking  forward to all of it.

I have worn my white jeans way more this spring and summer than I have shared on the blog. They are just such an easy go to, and the options for outfits are endless. I wanted to put together a light cool outfit for a  Saturday morning meeting but still have a little color. Long pants were more appropriate than shorts for this meeting but it's still so hot. This tee and scarf did the trick with the jeans.

Palazzo pants

Are you a fan of palazzo pants? When the trend first came back around, I said no. But thanks to the GYPO Summer challenge I ended up adding a pair back to my wardrobe. I say "adding back"  because I wore these 15-20 years ago. And loved them! I just didn't think I could justify purchasing something I couldn't wear to work now, but then I decided I could wear these to church, or out to dinner. So...palazzo pants it is. This was Day 8 of the challenge. They were supposed to be paired with a flowy tank and metallic sandals, but mine are too long for flats and I like this shirt better with this pair than with any of my knit flowy tanks. I do have a dressier, chiffon flowy tank to pair with these later, but was having an undergarment (bra) issue this particular evening so this shirt won. Ever have that happen? Bra straps? Wrong color glaring through?

I also want to say welcome and thanks for following to any of the ladies that may be new to my blog from the challenge group. You are an awesome group of ladies!

What do you wear to a movie showing/reception when you are the event photographer? You need to be comfortable, able to be on your feet for a few hours, and able to move. You need to blend in with guests and still look professional. This is what I wore to an event we photographed recently. Oh yeah, I'm finally letting the cat out of the bag- my husband and I started a photography business this year. We are still learning. Don't judge our work by my blog photos. I take these myself with a tripod and remote and I'm still mastering that. I do much better work when I'm behind the camera. If you're interested, our website is here.
