I'm not very good with post titles. I'm not very creative with them, but hey, if you're following or checking this out from a link, then you know you're coming to see an outfit. At least I give you a preview of what color it is.

We are way over the Fourth now but I tend to wear these colors year round. This is what I wore on the fourth. I went with more blue and white and toned down the red. Just a touch of it.

This is another outfit I wore during the youth trip I chaperoned last week. While the boys stayed in a campground, the ladies roughed it at a hotel. When I arrived at the boys camp in this outfit that morning with my camera in hand for a day of touring Stone Mountain, one of the boys said, "Look, Miss Fonda has her photographer clothes on." LOL I guess bermuda shorts and a camp shirt are a little "touristy".

7 Pieces, 7 Outfits

Today I'm playing along with Walking in Grace and Beauty and Ma Nouvelle Mode for a 7x7 remix challenge. I love these challenges because they get me to take a good look at my wardrobe and come up with outfits I probably otherwise would not have.

I picked 7 pretty basic pieces. Truthfully, I find them boring to remix but I wanted to challenge myself to see how different I could make them with shoes and accessories since those don't count in the 7 pieces. I truly believe that shoes can totally change the vibe of an outfit.

Here's an overview of my seven outfits:

My seven pieces of clothing:
1- Old Navy anchor blouse similar
2- Red pencil skirt- similar
3-white jeans- Loft
4- gingham button up similar
5-black midi skirt Dorothy Perkins
6- black lace top similar
7- red shorts similar

Now here's a closer look at each outfit for you:

Boyfriend shorts take 2

Shirt- Ralph Lauren/Macy's; Shorts- Gap
necklace-Groopdealz
shoes- Target
Worn Sept 14, 2013

I wore this on Saturday to the local "Fall Concert" featuring Big Daddy Weave. We went to lunch first and the very young hostess at Ruby Tuesday commented on my necklace and the orange shorts and said they reminded her of fall and not many people can pull off orange. She was very complimentary of my look. So does this mean I pulled off a summer to fall transition with shorts? (even though it's not yet fall on the calendar or the themometer).

Boyfriend shorts

Shirt/ shorts (exact)- Gap;
sandals- Target
bracelet- made by me
Worn July 2013

I have yet to jump out and try a pair of boyfriend jeans. That's kind of surprising because I tend to go to larger cuts because I'm on the curvy side. I just don't want to look sloppy so I haven't searched for the perfect pair yet. I did however give the Gap boyfriend shorts a try this summer. I have this bright pair and a khaki pair and they have been my go to for shorts all summer. (Well really, they are the only two pair that fit since the weight loss). I'm not so sure from these photos that they are the best look for me, but they sure are comfortable to wear.

I need...

shirt- TJMaxx; shorts- thrifted;
shoes- Ross; bracelets- gifts
worn Aug. 17, 2013

A chunky gold chain to wear with this outfit or some shorter necklaces. Well, really it's a want but strong one. Since I didn't have a necklace, I opted for an arm party with gold bracelets I've had since I was a teenager.

I recently purchased these shorts from a thrift shop and although they are a bit long, they will carry through fall nicely. Especially since fall here stays in the 80s. And I also recenlty purchased these cap toe flats with gold chain detail. I'm in love.

On vacation

shirt-old (Chadwicks); tank- Old Navy; shorts- TJMaxx
shoes- Payless
Worn Oct. 5, 2012

We took a vacation a couple of weeks ago and I got the hubby to take these photos on the deck of the Corolla Inn, Corolla, NC. It was a little breezy, but you still get the gist of the outfit- shorts, a gingham shirt, tank, and comfy shoes for sightseeing. This shirt is the first thing I thought of pairing with these shorts when I bought them. I've learned to mentally go through my closet and decide if I have other pieces to work with an item before a purchase.

Sorry I've been a little amiss with posting lately. We've been catching up from our trip away and getting ready for Halloween. It's a big event at our house so we've been busy building props and decorating.

Bangs and bobby pins

Top- Old Navy (Refashioned by me); shorts- Target
belt- thrifted;  shoes- Target
Worn August 10, 2012 (evening)

We went to a cookout at a friend's house and I wore this outfit. Looking back, I'll be finding a different belt to wear with it, and a different purple tshirt. I'v decided that Old Navy tshirts are not flattering on me - too thin, too shapeless, too long and they bunch and roll around the middle- Sorry Old Navy. I do have some tshirts that I like and I've discovered that the key is that it has a little spandex vs 100% cotton. At least I know what I'm shopping for now.

And as for the title of my post, my bangs were in need of a trim so I started pinning them to the side with a barrette or bobby pin.

Denim and red

shirt/ tank-??; shorts, shoes- TJMaxx; belt- thrifted
Worn- July 21, 2012

A true summer outfit. I bought these shorts thinking of a black gingham shirt, but I ended up wearing them with this old denim shirt. So glad I got to revive this shirt.

Nothing special

tshirt- Wal-mart; shorts- ??
Brooch- No Plain T's
shoes- Payless
Worn: July 7, 2012

Nothing special about this outfit- it's a tshirt and shorts. But, it's so much cuter with the No Plain T's felt brooch. I have loved this accessory since the day it arrived. It's so easy to dress up a shirt or cardigan. Then "nothing special" becomes "not so plain."

Leopard flats and new haircut

shirt- Old Navy; shorts, belt, shoes- Target
Worn: August 25, 2012

Don't you just love Target? I mean, groceries and cute clothes all at the same time. I recently got these flats for $12 and since it won't be fall here for a couple more months, I'm wearing them with shorts now.

I also got a shorter hair cut last week. I'm normally posting about a month or two behind, so you wouldn't have noticed, but I went ahead and posted these recent pics. The hubby loves it, but I'm not sure it's doing what I want it to yet.

Perfectly plaid boat shoes

Shirt/shorts- Target;belt- thrifted; shoes- Payless
Worn July 1, 2012

This is probably the most casual outfit I've posted on here. Five days out of the week, I'm dressing for work and for church on Sunday, so that doesn't leave a lot of room for casual. But I do wear casual clothes. And when you're wearing shoes this cute, the rest of the outfit really doesn't matter. These make me smile every time I wear them. I thought they even deserved their own shot!
