Finds under $25- Saturday Shopping

Let's face it, most of us are spent out after Christmas. We made a resoulution to save money, spend less. If this is you and you still want to shop, you're still in luck. There are some major sales out there right now on things you can wear for a few more months and even into spring. Here are ten picks under $25! (Final prices come in under $25 after codes and automatic discounts at the retailer's site.) Some sizes are limited.

Top 10 of 2015

Where did another year go? I can't believe we are closing out 2015. I celebrated some ten year milestones this year- ten years on the current job (twenty total in the career) and a ten year wedding anniversary. It was also a difficult year. We launched a photography business that is still in the growing phase (don't judge our work by blog photos- these are all self portraits with a timer). I won't speak publicly of some of the other trials but I'm hopeful next year will be better.

So, what are your goals for next year? Do you have any fashion or blog related goals? I'm still considering a capsule wardrobe idea, or at least pairing down so I'll have a more organized closet. That really comes down to getting rid of stuff and only keeping what I love and what will fit in the space I have for a closet. Ever notice how all those pretty pictures of neatly organized closets don't really contain that many clothes, or like only 9 pairs of shoes? Um, yeah, okay. Let's be real.

I'll close out this year (and this rambling) with a count down of the top ten posts (by number of views). I don't really consider these my favorite outfits of the year, but they got the most views. There are lots of ways to wear a blanket scarf. I wore this to church a few weeks ago and wore my blanket scarf as a wrap/poncho. It was cool but not cold enough to wrap this thing around my neck so this was an easy way to still add some punch to an outfit with a scarf without being too warm. I pretty much copied this whole look from Erin at The Fashion Canvas.

This triple layered necklace was a "me" gift while Christmas shopping this year during Black Friday sales. So selfish, but the sales are too good to pass up.

It's Christmas week! Are you ready? All the presents were wrapped as of last night, so now I'm just looking forward to a short work week, lots of food, family, and presents. I've got to pick up some groceries for the cooking we plan to do, but that's it.

We finally had a day cool enough to wear riding boots. My hubby bought me a cognac pair last Christmas. I have a black pair, and I have tall black and brown boots with heels, but I needed a cognac pair to complete the collection. I guess I could say I need an over the knee pair to complete the collection, but we will leave that alone for now. Unfortunately, the pair I picked out last year didn't fit. I returned them and I didn't replace them until the Nordstrom sale this year. Do you know how long ago that was? I have had to wait all this time to wear these boots, lol.

 

This outfit was one of the GYPO fall style challenge outfits. Of course that was in late September and October and I didn't get to wear this outfit then. It is nice to have some ideas on hand for later. I wore this for my in-laws Thanksgiving a couple of weekends ago. It's a great outfit for Thanksgiving if you go casual- stretchy leggings or jeans and an untucked shirt and long cardigan to hide that food baby.

Saturday shopping: blanket scarves

Blanket scarves have been an item for a couple of years, but it seems like everybody is talking about them this season. They are more on trend than ever. If you're shopping for a blanket scarf, they can run the gamut in sizes and prices. Most of them come in a plaid pattern, but there's nothing wrong with that. Here are my picks:




Express is killin' it with their reversible plaid and houndstooth blanket scarf.  Shop at Express through ebates and get 2.5% back.  I also love the pink and olive plaid scarf.


There are so many ways to tie a blanket scarf, but you can achieve many of the same looks with an oversized scarf. So if a full on blanket scarf is not your thing, check out these options:

You would think that there is no more room left on this bandwagon, but I'm on there too. The blanket scarf bandwagon. I bought mine back in September or October and I'm just now wearing this one. I bought another one and it's seen a little more wear. As much as I love these things, it's just not cold enough or practical enough to wear it daily here. But is sure is fun when I do.

I'm not sure what to say except I'm so glad it's Friday! What a long week. Holiday buzz is in full swing. I arrived home yesterday to a stack of packages almost as high as the entryway trees at my door. Now someone has to wrap all that stuff.

Let's talk for a minute about a different wrap, or the blanket scarf. I love this one. It's so cozy. I purchased another one earlier in the season but have not had the opportunity to wear it yet. This one has been worn twice now.
