Snakeskin and sunnies

Blazer-thrifted- option
blouse- old/ JCPenney option
pants - Gap
shoes- Belk
Worn March 25, 2014

It was so windy last week when I took these pics that I had to relocate for fear my tripod would blow over. I retreated to the backyard when the wind was slowed down a bit by the fence and house.

Relocating meant I was in direct sunlight, thus you are seeing me in my sunnies for the first time ever. I have never thought of sunglasses as an accessory and have never owned more than one pair at a time, maybe two when I'm smart enough to keep a back up on hand. I'm rough on sunglasses so I just don't spend a lot on them.

Nothing really new about this outfit, just a color change on the blazer. I've previously worn this shirt with green/teal and red.

Gingham, florals and two ways to wear a skirt

Shirt- Jones New York/ TJMaxx similar
skirt- Old Navy (old) similar
shoes- Payless similar
necklace- Our World Boutique similar
Worn March 23, 2014

We had spring like temps last Sunday so I busted out the florals, gingham and new sandals. I bought this shirt last year to wear with a floral skirt, but the color was not close enough to properly print mix. So, the shirt was worn with jeans and then hung in the closet. One day while just browsing around in my closet, these two pieces caught my eye and I thought, well look, this shirt goes with that skirt. Saved! Used for it's original purpose. Of course, it can be worn many other ways, I just wanted to mix prints.

I got many compliments on this outfit at church. I was rather surprised. While I liked my look, I didn't expect anyone else to pay much attention. I wish the photos did this more justice. The lighting in this spot is really bright and bounces and reflects in all directions because of the concrete. I like this spot, but I'm having to work hard to learn to control the lighting so everything isn't so washed out. Thus, outfit photos turn into photography lessons.

And speaking of print mixing, let's talk about REmixing. This skirt has become a favorite of mine because it lends itself to so many outfits. A couple of years ago I used it as a transitional piece. (May have to do that again if we have another dip into the 30s like last week.)

Basics and statements

Blazer/ pants- Loft
shirt- thrifted option
shoes- thrifted
earrings- Sears option
bracelet- JCPenney
Worn March 20, 2014

Blush/red... red/taupe... both great combinations in my opinion and I subtly worked them into one outfit.  Sometimes I like to go 'all business" and then again I like to take basics like these and punch them up with bold statement pieces like the earrings and bracelet and some fun shoes.

Mint

Blazer- Ross
shirt- Sears
pants/shoes- Belks
necklace JCrew Factory
Worn March 19, 2014

Even though the temperatures didn't say spring, I forged ahead and added a touch of spring to my wardrobe with a mint blouse last week. Slowly, slowly, we are getting there.  I also picked up this necklace at a great price last month and I'm looking forward to wearing it again with my mint and lavendar items.

Hot pink sweater

Blazer- Dress Barn (old) option
sweater- JCPenney similar
shirt- Sears similar
pants- Gap similar
shoes- TJMaxx option
 Worn March 18, 2014

This could be a daily work formula for me- sweater over button up, trousers. Add a blazer for another layer. It's laid back and yet still professional. I love these pointed toe wedges too. I've worn them once before. I like having a lower heel dress shoe in my closet for the days when I just don't feel like heels.

Red and chambray- a new classic

Blazer- Belks option
shirt- Old Navy similar
jeans- Old Navy similar
shoes- mule high heel clogs- old option
clutch- thrifted option
Worn March 15, 2014

All of the fashion magazines show this pairing of a red blazer and chambray shirt so by now it shoud be dubbed a classic look. I really liked how this outfit turned out so I got a little "snap happy" with the camera. I even threw in a "mean look" up there- haha. Too bad my pics weren't more in focus.

I'm really beginning to like clutches for quick trips or evenings out. Just throw in a few essentials and go. And because you carry them as opposed to wearing them on your shoulder, I think they draw a little more attention to an outfit. What do you think?

Pop of green

Blazer/pants- Sears option
sweater- JCPenney
necklace- gift
worn March 14, 2014

I skipped this outfit last week to make my posting schedule more appropriately fit some link ups, but wanted to come back to it. If you have a need for business attire, then you should have a couple of matching power suits in your wardrobe. I have several because my works call for it. This one is not the most structured (nor high quality) suit but I love it's color. A great option to black and it still goes with everything.
