Camel and navy

Blazer- Dorothy Perkins option
blouse- JCrew Factory
pants- The Limited similar
 shoes- Ross option
Worn March 26, 2014

Some more basics paired in a ready-to-work combination. Do your clothes give you certain emotions or feelings? I felt confident and productive in this outfit, even with the flats. I like to wear flats for a break from time to time, but prefer a little heel because of my height and thick legs.  This was just a refreshing mix of basics, but I have to give credit for the idea to The Classy Cubicle for the idea.

Plaid and dots

Blazer- Target option option option
blouse- JCrew Factory similar
pants- TJMaxx option
shoes-old
Worn March 10, 2014

This top has become a work horse in my wardrobe. I thought I was getting black dots when I purchased it but realized it was navy the first time I wore it. Nonetheles, navy is a great neutral as well and I've gotten lots of use out of it. I have not run out of ways to wear it and there are more to come. It can be both dressy and casual. Last week I wore it to work, and previously I've worn it as a casual piece. (details here)

Ad inspired

Jacket- Old Navy similar
sweater- Target similar
scarf- etsy option option
jeans- Levis
shoes- Payless
worn Feb. 15, 2014

I love to look at the "outfits we love" ads at Old Navy/Gap/BR. For some reason I kept overlooking this one, thinking I had no interest in it and no reason to purchase any similar piece. Then it hit me- I already own similar pieces. I purchased this jacket at Old Navy a few years back and rarely wear it as I have viewed jackets as "outer wear only" in the past and not part of an outfit. That view is changing.

I paired my version with these particular shoes because we were headed to the beach to look for sea glass balls/treasures (literally, sea glass balls hidden on Jekyll Island by locals for the public to find) and I did not think my suede booties would fair well there. I do think the outfit as a whole would look better with booties. And no, we didn't find a treasure.

Delayed gratification

Jacket- Target option option
blouse- JCPenney (old)
pants- Limited similar
belt- thrifted
bracelet- JCPenney
shoes- Payless
worn Feb. 3, 2014

I stalked this jacket in our local Target for the longest time. The more I saw it on other bloggers, the more I wanted it. I know it can become a versatile piece for my work wardrobe. Yet I wanted to get a bargain too and I knew I didn't NEED it. So I stalked it. Weekly. Until finally just before Christmas it went on clearance and with a coupon, I got for around $20.

Then with the busyness of Christmas and the weather, I didn't wear it until this week. I tried one other time, but the blouse I picked out to go with it was too white and I was running late and didn't have time to iron something else. Then it was too cold. Finally, Monday was a warm day and it was perfect for this outfit.

Just curious, do you ever want something so badly, yet delay wearing it when you finally get it?

Stripes and sunshine

Sweater- Forever21 option option;
pants- JCPenney
necklace/earrings- ??? option option
shoes- Belks
Worn Jan. 27, 2014

I normally wear this sweater with more navy or red, so I decided it was time to mix it up with grey and a pop of yellow. Temps went into the 70s Monday before the "storm" arrived this week so it was nice to have a little sunshine before all the cold and grey.

I'm having a brain freeze from all the cold and I can't remember wear I got this necklace. It was either at Belk or JCPenney (it's not like we have a large choice of stores here).

Popover and fringe

Blazer/pants- Limited; shirt- JCrew factory;
shoes- Belk; necklace- Sassy Steals (similar)
worn Oct. 10, 2013

Who says business attire has to be boring? Take a basic navy suit and add a polka dot top and colorful necklace and you've got a fun work outfit. I often "rebel" against the "expected" attire in my workplace with outfits like this.

Classic navy

Blazer- Old; shirt- JCrew factory;
pants- Limited (similar); belt- Target (similar)
shoes- DSW; necklace- JCPenney
Worn Aug. 27, 2013

I think I am going to be wearing this color combination a lot this fall. I am really beginning to like navy and blue with camel or brown. When it gets a little cooler, I plan to pair this shirt with some patterned camel pants I thrifted. For now, I kept this work appropriate with classic pieces and added a little leopard.

Mint and navy

Shirt- Forever 21 (similar); skirt-thrifted (option);
shoes- TJMaxx; necklace- Sears
worn Sept 8, 2013

When I first bought this shirt, I ordered it more or less to get free shipping and questioned if I would really wear it much. I've already worn it twice within a month, once casual and like this, a little bit more dressed up. If I just rotate the two looks, I'm happy, but I'm sure I'll come up with something else. And who would have ever thought to buy a statement necklace from Sears?

I took yesterday to rest from a week of traveling and spent most of today getting ready to celebrate the hubby's birthday, so now I'm off to catch up on other things I neglected.

I was inspired by this set on polyvore (found via pinterest)  to combine the olive and navy in my closet. So glad I did. And I'd love to have those bracelets from Lulu's.
