I began to get a little bored with just black and white outfits, so I used a black and white base of a gingham shirt and black pants and added a little bit of color with mustard flats. Leopard is another neutral but adds a fun pattern. The khaki blazer helped keep this more in line with business attire. And yes, you have seen this Stella and Dot necklace a lot. I have worn it a lot since I purchased it and love how it breaks down to make multiple necklaces.

How do you dress up gingham for work? I threw on a blazer and faux pearl statement necklace. I took inspiration for this outfit from Extra Petite but swapped the skirt for pants.  Later the same day, I wore the gingham shirt with white jeans and red flats. I love versatile pieces that go from office to casual. What are some of your favorite versatile pieces of clothing?

I have been stuck on blue and white for a while now. Every outfit I put together in my head has blue and white, and maybe another color, but blue and white. I have to force myself to move on so I'm not wearing the same color every day.  In spite of my blue and white obsession, these jeans have not seen enough wear, so I obliged my inner self and wore them last week to an appointment.

This outfit was inspired by Merrick

I love the pop of pink in the belt.

Thanks for stopping by.

You should know that if I like your outfit, I will totally copy it. Consider it a compliment. Even if I don't totally copy it, I will take your idea and adapt it. That's what I did with this outfit from Classy Cubicle. It was the inspiration to wear my gingham shirt with a blazer- something I have never done. How is it that we miss the simplest things sometimes?

7 Pieces, 7 Outfits

Today I'm playing along with Walking in Grace and Beauty and Ma Nouvelle Mode for a 7x7 remix challenge. I love these challenges because they get me to take a good look at my wardrobe and come up with outfits I probably otherwise would not have.

I picked 7 pretty basic pieces. Truthfully, I find them boring to remix but I wanted to challenge myself to see how different I could make them with shoes and accessories since those don't count in the 7 pieces. I truly believe that shoes can totally change the vibe of an outfit.

Here's an overview of my seven outfits:

My seven pieces of clothing:
1- Old Navy anchor blouse similar
2- Red pencil skirt- similar
3-white jeans- Loft
4- gingham button up similar
5-black midi skirt Dorothy Perkins
6- black lace top similar
7- red shorts similar

Now here's a closer look at each outfit for you:

Gingham, florals and two ways to wear a skirt

Shirt- Jones New York/ TJMaxx similar
skirt- Old Navy (old) similar
shoes- Payless similar
necklace- Our World Boutique similar
Worn March 23, 2014

We had spring like temps last Sunday so I busted out the florals, gingham and new sandals. I bought this shirt last year to wear with a floral skirt, but the color was not close enough to properly print mix. So, the shirt was worn with jeans and then hung in the closet. One day while just browsing around in my closet, these two pieces caught my eye and I thought, well look, this shirt goes with that skirt. Saved! Used for it's original purpose. Of course, it can be worn many other ways, I just wanted to mix prints.

I got many compliments on this outfit at church. I was rather surprised. While I liked my look, I didn't expect anyone else to pay much attention. I wish the photos did this more justice. The lighting in this spot is really bright and bounces and reflects in all directions because of the concrete. I like this spot, but I'm having to work hard to learn to control the lighting so everything isn't so washed out. Thus, outfit photos turn into photography lessons.

And speaking of print mixing, let's talk about REmixing. This skirt has become a favorite of mine because it lends itself to so many outfits. A couple of years ago I used it as a transitional piece. (May have to do that again if we have another dip into the 30s like last week.)

Gingham and vest

Shirt- Ralph Lauren (thrifted) (similar); vest (old-Goody's) (similar) (similar);
jeans- Levis skinny; boots- Belk's (similar) (similar)
worn Nov. 22, 2012

I went to the Goodwill with the hubby and some friends to thrift Halloween costumes last fall. I happened upon this gingham shirt while we were there. The cuffs have a cute stripe detail. This was a fun find, especially since I wasn't even looking for it. Later I was inspired by this pin to pair my shirt with boots and a vest.

Hope you have a great week.

I Spy Refashion - Is a vest an accessory? I'm counting it for this link.

Old lady

Sweater- JCPenney; Shirt- Chadwicks; pants- Lee; shoes- Shoe Dept.
Worn: March 11, 2012

Yes, I am labeling myself an old lady today. That's what I thought when I took a good look at this outfit in these photos. Each piece has potential on its own but together this is very boring. I am going to hang on to this gingham shirt because I like it and gingham is in this season, but hopefully some bright colored pants will make their way into my closet so I can create a better outfit.
