Sweater dress

My sweater dress seems to make at least one appearance every fall or winter season. I always seem to find a new way to wear it. I've worn it with a blanket scarf (seen here), tall boots, my fur vest (seen here) and with a statement necklace. Now I'm pairing it with my denim jacket, booties and felt hat. I used to think a piece like this was too plain and limiting but now I'd recommend such a piece. It's easy dressing (just one piece to pull over your head) and then you can layer as much or little as you would like.

I also recently scooped up the Urban Decay Naked on the Run set on sale at Ulta. I got to use a coupon so I got this set for $24. A great deal to try out shadows, liner, bronzer, mascara, blush, and gloss. I've never used their products- sorry, I'm a cheapie drug store make up user, but I do like these and see the value in this set. You can still get a great deal on it and it would make a great gift for someone. My whole look above was done with the palette.

Updated: I had a chance to come back and update links in this post. I'll also say that I love these new shoes. Once again I'm raving about Payless shoes. And kudos to me for wearing this denim jacket a little more. Maybe I'll finally reach a decent cost per wear with it. Now, if I could just find as much use for the white denim jacket I own.

Empire waist

I walked out of our bedroom ready for church Sunday morning wearing this and the hubby says "I just learned what an empire waist is- now I'm a women's fashion expert." Oh really? He went on to explain that the show on TV was showing that an empire waist would lengthen and make a petite person appear taller. He even explained what an empire waist was and where it fell on the garment. I said, you mean like this dress?

My fear with these types of dresses on my curvy figure is that is makes me look pregnant. Not a look I want. You see I noted above this dress was a gift. I would not have bought it for myself. Regardless of looks, I managed to be comfortable and stay warm on yet another cold, grey and dreary day.

Another look

Here's another look with the Loft skirt I just had to have, thanks to the power of social media. This time I went with one of the looks straight from the remix collage created with it by Everyday Savvy. I think this is my favorite look so far with my denim jacket. I have struggled with styling and wearing a denim jacket. It's one of those things that it seems everyone must have, but yet I struggle with it. I love how it pops with this skirt.

A slight chill

The temps actually dippped to low 50s last Sunday. The same day the high was in the 80s so the fall celebration was short lived. I got a bit tickled looking at all the ladies on the praise team at church in their tall boots. One of them was back to bare legs with a summer skirt and top for evening service. That's how fashion rolls in south Georgia.

I opted to celebrated the short lived cold snap by busting out a scarf and jacket. Layers that could be removed after lunch work best for me.

Dressed down

I bought this dress last year and wore it for Easter and then a few more times, but I don't think it ever made it to the blog. It's very pretty by itself with heels, and I'm sure you will see it again, but I was inspired by Penny Pincher Fashion to dress it down and add a denim jacket. I opted for my white one instead of the blue one.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Casual weekend

Worn March 29, 2014

This is a very casual look for me. I'm on the fence about keeping or tossing these pants. Rolled up to this length pictured and worn with flats is not flattering at all for me.  Overall, I still think the concept of this outfit is cute. I wore this last weekend to the movies. Theatres are always cold to me, so the jacket came in handy.

Denim jacket and a maxi/ Style Swap

This week  for Style Swap I chose to swap a look from Danielle at Goodwillista focusing on a denim jacket and maxi skirt.

It's pretty much a piece for piece copy except for the necklaces. I tried a little necklace layering and wore a cross necklace my sweet hubby gave me for Valentine's Day and a longer "wing" necklace.

I finally gave in and purchased a denim jacket with a gift card. At least two fashion magazines have said it's a must have spring piece. I've always hesitated because I don't think I'll get that much wear out of it, but I keep pinning looks with denim jackets, so I decided it was time to bite the bullet and go for it.
