Belted cardigan

I have decided that the belted cardigan look is not for me. I've tried it a couple of other times and it just does not flatter. I have a short torso and belting a cardigan tends to emphasize that and make me look thicker. If a cardigan doesn't lay nice and smooth it adds more rolls and bulges. Who wants that?

I could have ditched this post but I decided to share it anyway because the outfit idea might still work for someone else. It might also help someone evaluate what works or doesn't work for them and why. I love this look on others.

Pop of neon

I'm not really into neon. It's one of those trends from my teens and early twenties that could have stayed there as far as I'm concerned and I don't think it's really huge this year, but it is still out there. What I am into is mint and this neon pink belt was the perfect pop of bright pink with my mint blouse. I was inspired by this outfit by Polka Dots and Purses. I wanted to recreate a work appropriate look and jeans are not acceptable at my job. I also don't have pink shoes, but liked the pop against white and mint, so I decided a hot pink belt would be a much more useful purchase for me. Just for fun I went with silver shoes. Those had been big on my wish list and I finally used a huge chunk of rewards and got this pair from Banana Republic. I love the lower heel.

Hoping you have a great week!

Not so bad after all

Turtleneck sweater- ??, skirt- thrifted;
bracelets - Belk's; belt-?
boots- Shoes.com
Worn: Feb. 13, 2012

I'm drawing  a total blank on where that sweater and belt came from. The sweater is old, but the belt is fairly new.
And the whole outfit may never be repeated. I love the pattern in the skirt. I had to take it in a little so it hasn't been worn until recently. Oh well, it' s ready for next fall, but with  a different top. I have decided that ribbed turtlenecks do nothing for me.  I was horrified when I first took a look at these pictures, but looking at them now, maybe they are not as bad as I first thought. I'm very critical of myself. At least they motivated me to drop a few pounds. I still think that sweater is going to the dontation pile.
