Inspired by

                                         Inspiration                          My version

Shirt- JCrew factory; sweater- JCPenney similar
pants- TJMaxx similar; booties- Sears similar
necklace- Jane.com
worn Dec. 26, 2013

I have the inspiration photo pinned on my style board (are you following me? Please do)  and it gets pinned over and over again. Apparently lots of people love the look. I don't have a similar skirt and it has been too cold for bare legs, so I opted for pants. I promise the sweater is a closer match in color than the photos show- the lighting in here is throwing it off.

Emerald velvet blazer

Blazer thrifted similar; ruffle blouse- Sears (old) similar
pants/shoes- JCPenney
Worn Nov. 20, 2013

I was feeling a little festive yet still work appropriate in this last week. I took a cue from this post (far right).

The richness of the velvet and the ruffles on the blouse meant minimum accessories were needed. All I added were earrings.

I also thought I'd let you know I'm selling some of my gently worn clothing that is now too large for me. I've got these jeans and these listed on ebay here and here.

Leopard and camel

Cardigan- Gap (similar); shirt- Calvin Klein via Ross;
pants- Limited
belt- Target
necklace- Chico's (thrifted) (option)
shoes- old
Worn Oct. 23, 2013

This time I was inspired by Mix and Match Fashion to combine coral, leopard, and camel. Once again I created my outfit with pants instead of a skirt for work practicality.  This is an outfit I would repeat.

Little red riding hood

Blazer- Belk's; top- ? (old);
pants- JCPenney; shoes- Target;
necklace- Target
Worn: March 26, 2012

When I was trying to come up with a post title, the song "Little Red Riding Hood" (the Meteors) popped in my head. I'm sure the big bad wolf doesn't want me.

Taking a look back at this blazer worn in December vs March:

Polka dots and pinstripes

Blazer- Dress Barn; pants- JCPenney;
scarf- Target; bracelet- made by me
shoes - TJMaxx
Worn March 14, 2012

Our spring weather has bounced from warm to cold, thus you are seeing scarves when you ordinarily wouldn't. I'm glad I have some fun prints to keep in the spring spirit.

Pink and brown

Jacket- thrifted; sweater- thrifted;
Pants- JCPenney; shoes- Payless
Worn: Feb. 15, 2012

Camel lends itself as a nice neutral for brights in the winter, especially hot pink. Brown is also another great neutral. I love pink and brown. I was excited to see camel paired with brights in the fall fashion magazines. I've paired it here with pink, and before with purple.

stripe bracelet-  made by me

I love adding pops of color to a neutral base. Grey is a neutral I go to often. What's your "go to" neutral?

Twisted

Cardigan and scarf- Old Navy;
shirt- old; pants TJMaxx;
shoes- Payless
Worn: Jan. 27, 2012

I went with a twisted/braided look with my scarf. Looks kind of like a tie, and I don't like it, so I'll try the scarf a different way if I put it with this cardigan again. And when I say the shirt is old, I mean like 15 years old, back from when I first started working. I wish clothes today would last that long.

Neutrals

Jacket, shirt- thrifted; pants- JCPenney;
shoes- Payless
Worn: Jan. 26, 2012

Nothing exciting about these colors, but these pieces alone and together have become some of my favorites. I've really enjoyed this shirt. The fact that I have less than $20 in all three pieces makes it all the better.

I do iron, really

Jacket, pants- Sears; blouse- TJMaxx,
shoes- Target
Worn: Jan. 24, 2012

My suit looks horribly wrinkled, but I promise I ironed. This is one of those go to suits that I wear when I need to be active at work. It is comfortable. I've  worn it far more times than I've posted it, but I have shown it HERE before.

I'm going to go iron tomorrow's outfit now, just to be on the safe side.

Oh, and Happy Valentine's Day. I almost forgot since this post obviously has nothing to do with Valentine's Day. Do you have a special outfit for today?
