Boyfriends and oxfords

Shirt- JCrew Factory  option  option
jeans- Loft
necklace- gift
shoes- JCPenney  option
Worn Oct. 28, 2014

I started the day in this blouse with a navy suit and heels for work, but had a half day off for an appointment. I went home and changed into these comfy boyfriend jeans and oxfords. I fought the boyfriend jeans trend up until I finally purchased these in the spring. The first pair had no distressing. The distressing finally won over on me and I purchased this pair. They have minimal distressing but still lend themselves to a put together look (vs "thrown away"). Some gals do a great job of styling jeans with both knees torn and lots of holes, but I just don't think they fit my lifestyle and activities.

I also fought the oxford trend when it first came back. I had a pair of white ones when I was 13. (I'm over 40 now.) All of those trends from my awkward teen years were just too much of a reminder of those years to embrace right away. However, add some shine or sparkle, and I'm in. I got this pair during a sale with coupons for $15 so I think I'll get my cost per wear from them, even though they were bought just for fun.

The power of social media

Cardigan- TJMaxx option option
blouse- old
skirt- Loft  option
shoes- JCPenney option option
necklace- JCrew Factory
bracelet- JCPenney
worn Oct. 26, 2014

I must admit that I get swayed by social media (and a good sale) when I see something over and over. I begin to decide that I need that item too. This skirt is a fine example. After seeing this collage of outfits created with this skirt and other Loft items, and then this one  and this one all over pinterest and this skirt on a few other bloggers, I decided I needed it. A good flash sale sealed the deal and now I have one too.

I love a good accessory too. I had originally planned to wear a long simple necklace with this outfit and at the last minute this necklace caught my eye. You've seen me wear it here and here already and it's been worn one other time that didn't make the blog.

Hope you're having a great week.

Another easy formula

V-neck Sweater- Target similar  option option
shoes- Banana Republic option  option
bracelet- JCPenney  option option
necklace- Lulu's  option
worn Oct. 23, 2014

Remember the easy formula outfit I posted a few weeks ago? This one is very similar, but came straight from Redbook- pencil skirt + vneck sweater+ heels+ arm candy.  I think it helps if the heels are statement heels too. They can shine when you wear a solid sleek base.

And just a note to self- I need to check the length and fit of sweaters. I probably need to stick with petite sweaters. The length of this one is making it bunch and add bulk around the middle- not something I want or need. Oh, the things I learn from these photos.

It's all good again

Cardigan- JCPenney option option
tee- JCrew  option  option
jeans- Levis option
shoes- Macy's option option option
Worn Oct. 22, 2014 PM

I wore this to mid-week church service Wednesday night. When I come home from work, I like to put on shorts, sweats or pajamas and stay in them until the next morning. I have to really make myself dress and go out again on Wednesday evenings. This was as close to pajamas as I could get. It was comfortable but still appropriate for public.  It's the tout va bien graphic tee I wore a couple of weeks ago when it was hot, but the temps have cooled off so I was able to add a cardigan. I was inspired by this oufit by Love Lucy Girl. I'm getting more wear out of my sneakers this fall than I did in the summer.

Black, white and grey

Blazer- Dress Barn option option
blouse- JCrew Factory (says sold out but still available as final sale)
skirt- Target (thrifted) option
shoes- JCPenney option option
necklace- JCrew Factory

You can tell from the post title that this outfit is black, white and grey, but let me clarify again, it is black, white and grey. As the days shorten, I begin to have color cast issues with photos, so this looks navy on my monitor. If it looks that way on yours, it's black, not navy.

Where do you find outfit inspiration? I find it in all places- other bloggers, store mannequins, online ads. This one came from the Nordstrom website.

And here's a look back at how I wore this skirt in the spring:

Inspired by another

Vest- Kohls option option

jeans- Levis

necklace- online boutique option  option

I'll come straight out and tell you, this outfit was inspired by Lauren at Fizz and Frosting.  I don't have the jeweled tee, but adding a necklace to this one gives it pretty much the same effect. When I saw her outfit, I knew I had to wear this recently thrifted shirt this way. I almost didn't buy this shirt  because I probably have too many long sleeve tees that don't get worn. But who can resist stripes? And now I'm glad I bought it.

Beige utility jacket

Jacket- Old Navy (old)
shirt- Old Navy (thrifted)
jeans- Levis similar
shoes- Target option  option option
necklace- online boutique  option  option

I have this jacket for sale in my Poshmark closet and had someone ask me to model it. I have no blog photos of it because I never really wore it much, so I decided to do a quick post on styling a utility jacket. This one is a very light layer that is perfect for fall. I just threw it on with a striped long sleeve tee, jeans and leopard flats. Pretty neutral, but it works. (The jeans and tee are the base of the outfit you will see tomorrow.)

In the third photo the sleeves are worn down, but this jacket has zippers in the sleeves so I unzipped them and turned them back to show a little of the shirt sleeves in the first two photos. The zippers make this jacket easy to cuff for a modern look.

Here are a few other ways I'd style this jacket, pulled straight from Pinterest:
