I was inspired by a Loft ad that came through my email to pair these pieces together. The ad showed a top this color with patterned black and white shorts. The shorts are really nothing like my pants, but I immediately thought of them.

Sometimes you just need to look polished and professional and not overdone. Those are the days I reach for my black suit. A pastel top and long strand of faux pearls keep it from looking too "heavy" for spring.

 

This strand of pearls belonged to my aunt who passed away when I was five. My cousin passed on some of her jewelry to me. She was a beautiful red head and loved clothes and jewelry. I'm sure we would have been the best of friends if she had lived longer.

Spring bags- Saturday shopping

I felt like doing a little a pattern mixing this week and I thought these pieces were structured enough to get away with it at the office. Leopard is a neutral and polka dots go well with everything, so this was an easy mix to pull off. Stay with neutral colors and you've got it made.

A sunny yellow dress and some bright statement jewelry are just the thing to brighten my day. I was inspired by Molly to wear my denim jacket and wedges with this dress. I usually wear this as a dressier look, but I like the casual vibe going on here. It was cool enough for the jacket but I added a necklace instead of a scarf because I knew it would get pretty warm in the afternoon.

I'm loving this beautiful mild weather we have had lately. I think it makes me want to be at the beach  or on the ocean because I was channeling nautical vibes again for a Saturday outing. This blouse was a "what the heck, it's on clearance" purchase a couple of years ago, but has been a great addition to the closet. Sometimes those purchases made on a whim don't work out but I love this one. I can wear it for both work and play. And this striped tote has been a versatile summer bag as well.

Lately I've felt like my clothes and outfits have been on repeat so I've been changing things up just a bit with accessories. I tend to go to red with this blazer because of the red polka dot cuffs, but I decided to add a pop of turquoise this time with the necklace. I love red and turquoise together. I recently wore this blazer and pants with yellow (cuffs down) and added a pop of turquoise with that outfit as well. Here are the same pieces with different shoes and accessories.
