We hit enough of a dip in temps last weekend that I was able to wear a scarf. I layered it over this marsala/oxblood/burgundy tunic that I found at TJMaxx recently. I have a tie neck top in a similar shade but decided that it was tired after being worn repeatedly for the last few fall seasons. I was on the lookout for a new piece in this color, and was excited when I stumbled over this top. I'm also taking note of cobalt and burgundy/oxblood being mixed together this season, although I should have noticed last year because my scarf is from last season and it was already on trend with the two colors. I was inspire by this Bridgette Raes post to combine the tunic with grey dress pants. I would have loved to have added my cobalt heels, but I was wearing this out to a funeral visitation and had already been on my feet for 8 hours. They just couldn't take heels so I went with these comfy ballet flats.

I love it when fall and winter present the opportunity to wear rich, vibrant jewel tones. They are not my go to colors, but I do like them for mixing things up once in a while. I ordered this skirt during the Nordstrom anniversary sale. It's a nice thick skirt with the perfect amount of stretch. I was hesitant about the color but I have lots of things in my closet to pair it with so I kept it. This paring was a little bit of a wild card pairing and a little out of my comfort zone, but I liked the end result. The leopard shoes and tortoise necklace and watch subtly tie it together.

I thrifted this top last year and just got around to wearing it (oops). I need to have a top that tucks in most days, so it hasn't been practical for work. I was determined to wear it, so I did. Most of it's detail and appeal is hidden by the blazer (thus the post title), but it's work appropriate this way. But it's also going to be a fun casual piece. When I pulled it out of the closet, it was screaming "boho" "pair me with some flare jeans." I plan to do that in the future. For now I paired it with the blazer and trousers.

I chose the cropped blazer to go with the style of this top. You always see the "must have" closet recommendations and sometimes a black blazer is one of them. I'm convinced you really need three black blazers, depending on the look you are going for and the style of the piece you are pairing it with. I have the cropped blazer, a boyfriend blazer, and the standard corporate one.

I usually don't pull these pants out until later in the season because they are a heavy winter weight, but I'm so tired of rotating through the usual black, grey, and navy pants I wear to work. The weather has cooled off enough that I decided I could get away with wearing them now. They aren't tweed, but they have that look and I'm becoming a little obsessed with tweed for fall and winter.

Just some basics

Just a pretty basic work outfit- pants, button up shirt, black trousers. Some days this is what it takes for the job before me. But that doesn't mean the button up has to be white or that it has to be totally boring. I love this jewel tone purple button up. It's gotten a good bit of mileage and wear, along with these other pieces. My pendant is really old but the necklace is new. I have a few pendants that came on short chains or chokers, but the new thing is long necklaces so I requested a sterling chain for my birthday and my husband obliged.

The GYPO Fall Style Challenge kicks off today. This tone on tone look, created with two of fall's hottest colors, blush and marsala, is inspired by the Day 1 prompts. You could do this with two shade of any color and complete it with a scarf and gold flats. You get a shopping list and suggestions when you sign up for these challenges. I had some things in my closet already, like these flats. Mine are gold with a black cap toe so I'm subbing for the gold flats recommended in the shopping list. I also decided to go with an olive satchel purse instead of a burgundy one. I have been looking for a couple of months for a burgundy purse/tote, even before I signed up for the challenge, but later decided that I can overdo it with the burgundy/marsala/oxblood in the fall, so an olive one would be a nice compliment to all this burgundy.
