Oldies but goodies

Blazer- Forever 21  option    option  option

shoes- Payless  option  option

I've worn all of these pieces before (coral blazer here), but I'm not sure I've shared them together. I love this butterfly print top I found on Poshmark and it has paired nicely with so many other pieces in my wardrobe, both for casual and work wear. You just can't beat a great print.

Are you shopping the Nordstrom sale? I'm not a cardholder, so I'll be waiting until public access, but you can shop now if you have a card, credit or debit linked to your bank account.

Currently I'm eating.... lots of summer fruit. First it was blueberries, and now I've moved on to watermelon and cherries. We also eat lots of bananas year round. I haven't had any this week and I think I'm going into DTs, lol. What are you currently eating?

Summer essentials

Top- New York and Co  option   option  option
jeans- Loft  option
necklace- online boutique  option  option
earrings- Tuesday Morning
clutch- Target (old)  option  option

Summer essentials- white jeans, or shorts, or crops if you live anywhere near me. It's gotten too hot for these jeans, unless I'm going to be indoors most of the time. Another summer essential should be the off shoulder or cold shoulder top. I think this trend will be around a couple of years at least. I first debuted this top with wide leg linen pants and now I'm pairing it with white jeans. I love the contrast of my darker blue wedge sandals. Add those the summer essential list- a good pair of espadrille wedges.

Currently I'm... playing? I'm "playing" catchup with my scrapbooks. I don't play video games or even board games all that often, but the college age kids in the Sunday School class we teach are totally into Pokémon Go. The front of our church is even a stop for catching one. What are you currently playing? Are you into the pokemon craze or any gaming?

DIY tassel jewlery

I have been admiring all the tassel jewelry that is on trend right now, but I couldn't really justify the purchase when it wouldn't really fit in with my work attire. Then one day I popped into Michaels and noticed some tassels and colorful beads on clearance. I already had other beads and all the tools for making jewelry so I decided make my own. The bracelets are really easy to make- just string your beads and tassels on stretch magic cord and tie it in a knot. Glue your knot and you are done.

I also made another set of stacked bead tassel bracelets and a beaded wrap charm bracelet while I was at it. You may have seen those on Instagram. The wrap bracelet is for sale in my Poshmark closet.

I love how these bright colors pop against my white cold shoulder top. I know that "off shoulder" is having a moment now, but I've decided the cold shoulder top is more my jam. I'm just a bit picky about tops being too flowy and almost returned this one. I'm glad I didn't because I really like it with the fitted skirt. It will work well with skinny jeans too, and I can probably tuck it into shorts.

What trends are you admiring right now?

Striped swing dress

Today we are talking about the swing dress. Easy one piece dressing for a hot summer day. I wasn't sure if this style would work for me. I tried the Old Navy dress and it didn't work. Then I found this one at JCP. Sold. (BTW, it comes in four colors and it's on sale for $19.99!)

I'm so glad I didn't give up after trying on the Old Navy dress. I'm not bashing that dress by no means. I've seen it on others and it looks great, but it didn't work for me. I think that this one is a little heavier knit and hangs better for me. And I love the top- ample coverage.

Okay, it is a swing dress, so I had to get some pictures twirling and making the bottom flare. Ya'll ready for this?

So as not to leave you with a scarred memory, here's one more normal shot.

I decided to add pops of pink in my accessories but this dress is basically a blank slate and anything would go.

The tassel is worth the hassel- Saturday shopping

tassels

That quote refers to graduation and we had our whirlwind of that last month with my nephew and some friends. But the tassels we are talking about today aren't a hassle at all. They are so much fun and totally on trend right now. Last week we looked at pom poms, and this week I've rounded up an assortment of tassel trimmed items for your shopping fun.

Visit Purple Peridot for more tassel fun. I'm in love with this necklace  and these bracelets.

Happy Shopping!

Shopping day outfit

Blouse- Ralph Lauren (thrifted)  option  option
jeans- Loft
shoes- Payless   option  option  option
necklace- online boutique  splurge   option  option

I had a day off last week for an out of town doctor's appointment. I knew I would be dressing and undressing so a casual button up was the way to go. Plus, doctor visits are no fun so I had to reward myself with a little shopping afterwards, and button ups make trying on clothes easier for me. No pulling shirts over the head and worrying about getting make-up on them. Easy slip on ballets flats,  a long necklace that slips easily over the head and comfy jeans complete a shopping outfit. A crossbody bag also makes hands free shopping. My bag isn't pictured because it bit the dust that day. It was promptly replaced with a new saddlebag crossbody (similar to this one in tobacco).

Speaking of shopping, I walked the mall but only made two purchases- these shorts from Loft (still 50% off)  and these (in tearose, they're still on sale too) from JCPenney. You can see these from JCPenney on Instagram now and hopefully I'll be styling the striped ones soon.

A whole mall- and nothing really spoke to me. I guess I'm happy with my current wardrobe or just unwilling to pay full prices. I don't know. Shopping in store didn't do much for me although I have since stalked some store websites for sales on a couple of things that did catch my eye. I just found it odd that I had money saved up and spent less than $50. Maybe it just took that day to get the creative juices flowing.  Hubby and I hit a Tanger outlet last weekend and I had a field day in the Loft outlet. I've also made some Old Navy rewards purchases from the local store, but I think I've come to the conclusion that I like online shopping better than in store. What about you? How do you like to shop?
