Red sweater again

It's the red sweater again. This time as a layer over my polka dot popover. Below are three other ways I've worn this sweater. I always seem to wear it with black but I could just as easily create this same outfit and the one below with the  pencil skirt with identical pieces in navy. Or pair it with camel or khaki or tan or...well, you get the idea. I'd say it's a pretty versatile piece.

Have you ever participated in a capsule wardrobe? There's a great explain of capsule wardrobe HERE. I sort of did that after completing my 30x30 remix for the fall season but I could not commit to just 37 pieces or even 44 or any arbitrary number that included shoes. 30x30 was tough trying to include a work wardrobe and an off duty wardrobe. So I think I basically came up with 40-50 work wear pieces that I worked through and this red sweater was one of them. So was the polka dot popover and the cobalt pants that you've seen the last three months. I'm still creating outfits from that capsule. I just didn't put it out here that I was doing that because I knew I'd deviate from it some. Our weather is too crazy as well. I doubt I could commit to a "winter" wardrobe from Jan. to March. It was 70 degrees today and by March I may have shorts out. Who knows? I was surprised that I started needing the sweaters sooner than I thought in the Oct-Dec period. All that said, it did certainly stop the shopping the last couple of months and makes life much easier to have a list of outfits to go to when I'm ready to pick an outfit for the day. What are your thoughts on capsules or wardrobe planning?

One more thing....that fur collar sweater is for sale on Poshmark if you are interested.

I'm late posting today because I've been busy with a big personal project. I think I keep alluding to this and I promise I'll tell all as soon as I can. As for this outfit, I've seen this sweater and turtleneck on way too many bloggers so I caved back during Black Friday and ordered these pieces with some rewards. For the longest time, I did not need many sweaters but the past couple of winters, this one included, have seemed colder and I need sweaters! Maybe it's because I'm getting older.

I wore this to church Sunday. I didn't want to go in jeans (but sometimes do) so I thought denim trousers would be a slight step up. They have a subtle pinstripe in them so stripes and pinstripes it is.

I just noticed when I posted these photos that I had creases from the hanger across the legs of my pants. Classy. That's what happens when you don't prepare the night before and you are running behind. We'll just mark this one down for the history books.

You really can't tell from the pictures, but this sweater has gold/metallic flecks in it. I thought it would be the perfect small touch for the holidays for the office. I've worn this sweater with the pants before with a scarf, but somehow, the necklace and blazer make it feel like a totally new outfit. I love how simple changes make a big difference.

Merry and Bright

I opted for another bright look last week. It might seem odd to pair hot pink with this mustard pattern skirt, but I thought the scarf pulled this together well. I received several compliments.

Our Christmas decor this year is bright and colorful instead of the traditional red and green. Sometimes I do this with my wardrobe too.

It's Christmas eve! I hope you are spending quality time with family and friends as we celebrate our Savior's birth. Merry Christmas! I'll be back online in a couple of days but I'll likely be away for a bit loving on those dear to me.

When it comes to remix posts, I have remixed my wardrobe so much that I can pick just about any piece from an outfit to show remixed in other outfits. Take this outfit for example- do I go with the blazer, the pants, or the sweater? I decided to show you three ways I've worn the sweater.

                                           1                      2                            3

I wore the last version to work on the day of our office Christmas party. I always gravitate toward red when I think about dressing for Christmas.

If you're interested, the vest is for sale in my Poshmark closet. Make me an offer.

I wore this outfit Sunday to church and to our Sunday School Christmas party afterwards. We teach a college and career age Sunday School class (18-30) and they are so much fun. They had an ugly Christmas sweater theme party but I don't have an ugly Christmas sweater and couldn't find one at a thrift, so I just went with one of my favorite sweaters. The color lends itself perfectly to the holidays.

I wore tights again for the second time this season. I think some of the below options in tights would be perfect for holiday parties:
