Pastel plaid

Blouse- Liz Claiborne/ JCPenney
jeans- Levis
purse- Forever21
shoes- Old Navy
earrings- Target option
Worn April 19, 2014

I've mentioned that I'm trying to add more spring like items to my wardrobe. I'd like to have a few more floral pieces and I popped into JCPenney with a $10 coupon in hand. I found a floral shirt and this one. Plaid! and pastel! I fell in love. I wore this to visit family Easter weekend. It was still a little cool out so I paired it with jeans.

Casual Friday

Tshirt-  Target option option
shoes- Target option
bracelet- JCPenney option option
necklace- Forever21 option option
worn April 12, 2014

This is actually a casual Saturday outfit. We don't have casual Friday at work, so casual is limited to weekends. I'm posting on Friday and needed a post title, so casual Friday it is.

The only reason I took these pics was because I was debating about whether or not this looked okay and if I should keep or donate this shirt. I have become extremely picky about tshirts. I don't like cheap ones that "roll" around the middle and have no shape to them. I like for them to have a little stretch and still keep their shape. This is a cheap tshirt and it's doing a little "rolling" but overall, I think this worked out. I think accessories are totally what make jeans and a tshirt an "outfit".

Red and chambray- a new classic

Blazer- Belks option
shirt- Old Navy similar
jeans- Old Navy similar
shoes- mule high heel clogs- old option
clutch- thrifted option
Worn March 15, 2014

All of the fashion magazines show this pairing of a red blazer and chambray shirt so by now it shoud be dubbed a classic look. I really liked how this outfit turned out so I got a little "snap happy" with the camera. I even threw in a "mean look" up there- haha. Too bad my pics weren't more in focus.

I'm really beginning to like clutches for quick trips or evenings out. Just throw in a few essentials and go. And because you carry them as opposed to wearing them on your shoulder, I think they draw a little more attention to an outfit. What do you think?

Military style

Jacket- Sears similar option option option
shirt- Old Navy option option
jeans- Levis straight leg similar similar
booties- TJMaxx option option option
Worn March 11, 2104

Mornings are not good times to take photos for me. Note the puffy eyes. I do better to wait until the evening, but I wasn't sure if there would be daylight when I returned home on this day, so I went ahead and snapped the photos in the morning.

I got this jacket for a steal ($7) on clearance a couple of years ago, but don't wear it much (last seen here). I do like it so I pulled it out of the closet. I'm going to try and wear it more. Styling suggestions, links to pin, etc. are welcome.

Ad inspired

Jacket- Old Navy similar
sweater- Target similar
scarf- etsy option option
jeans- Levis
shoes- Payless
worn Feb. 15, 2014

I love to look at the "outfits we love" ads at Old Navy/Gap/BR. For some reason I kept overlooking this one, thinking I had no interest in it and no reason to purchase any similar piece. Then it hit me- I already own similar pieces. I purchased this jacket at Old Navy a few years back and rarely wear it as I have viewed jackets as "outer wear only" in the past and not part of an outfit. That view is changing.

I paired my version with these particular shoes because we were headed to the beach to look for sea glass balls/treasures (literally, sea glass balls hidden on Jekyll Island by locals for the public to find) and I did not think my suede booties would fair well there. I do think the outfit as a whole would look better with booties. And no, we didn't find a treasure.

Comfy light layers

Cardigan- JCPenney
long sleeve tshirt- JCPenney
jeans- Levis
scarf- Target
shoes- Old Navy
worn Feb. 2, 2014

I usually dress up for church, but some days I just don't feel like it. Sunday was one of those days where I just wanted to be comfortable. The temperature shift left me clueless about what to wear. I knew I needed light layers because it would be warm in the afternoon. So, I popped over to my pinterest style board and saw this pin. It was one of those aha moments where I realize I have similar items in my closet and they are so simple I would have totally overlooked wearing them together. Done. Dressed.

For the red carpet

Blazer- thrifted
shirt -JCPenney
jeans- Levis
shoes- DSW similar similar
clutch -Forever 21
Worn Jan. 18, 2014

I wore this to an amateur film premier last weekend. My hubby was involved with some of the props and makeup and had an acting part as well. This was a "no budget" film but still turned out great. There is a local film council in our area assisting aspiring film producers and soliciting movie makers to our area. It's fun to see people you know on the big screen.

Red plaid

Shirt- JCPenney; sweatshirt- Old Navy option
jeans- Levis; shoes- Target option option adorable
Worn Jan 2, 2014

I received this shirt for Christmas as a gift. Since our new year started out rainy and cold, I thought it would be a fun layer under this sweatshirt.

I'm  okay with the outfit but the photos are not doing it justice. Weird camera angles are just...well...weird. I look a little dumpy here. Since I'm being a bit critical, let me go ahead and say this. It really bothers me when I view fashion posts where the person has been photographed at a weird angle. If you really want to do this, get the right lens or learn to do the best with what you have. Notice I still have room for improvement, but I really hate those shots where someone is shooting from slightly above. It really doesn't flatter you and makes you look squatty and distorted. Is the tall hubby taking your shots? Tell him to bend down a little or get farther back. Don't set the tripod on the porch above you and then go out into the yard or street. Set it up somewhere on the same level. Just my advice and rant for the day.

Easy going

Blazer- Sears- similiar similar
shirt- TJMaxx
jeans- Old Navy similar
necklace- Chicos (thrifted) similar
purse- Nine West option
Worn Dec. 8, 2013

Just over a week ago these leaves were gorgeous! Now they are gone. How quickly nature changes and passes us by.

On another note, if you want to be casual and still polished, add a blazer. I like to dress up for church, but didn't feel like it last week. I wanted to wear jeans because I knew we were going straight to lunch and then to do a lot of shopping afterwards, but I added a blazer to feel a little more dresssed up. And I carried the red purse again.

Grey jeans

Shirt- Lucky brand- thrifted; similar
jeans- Levi's mid-rise skinny option; option option
booties- Target similar
earrings- Target option
Worn Nov. 10 pm

Grey jeans are a hot trend for fall this year and so far I have not regretted my investment in these. Even though this is the first time I've shown them on here, I've already worn them three or four times since I purchased them last month.  Oh and the earrings- they look purple but they are navy. I HATE this indoor lighting. I LOVED my morning run in the 34 degrees today but I'm missing extended daylight. I guess you can't have everything.

Leather tote

Top-Loft; jeans- Old Navy;
shoes- Old Navy
tote- Banana Republic

I splurged and bought this tote with my birthday money and some rewards back in July. I love it. I didn't know if I would like a large open tote but I do. I find things much easier in here than a regular purse. Another random thing about this outfit- I've had this shirt for a least a couple of years and have only worn it once; however, I think I'm going to put it into regular rotation.

A little fall glitter

Tank/cardigan- Target (old)
jeans- Sears
shoes/belt- Target (similar)
Necklace-thrifted and updated by me
Worn Sept. 21, 2013

I've had this cardigan and tank for a few years and wear them infrequently but still hang on to them. I think leopard goes with them well and keeps them neutral but not boring. I really should wear these pieces with different jeans- these are just too high waisted for my short waisted self. I need a longer top with these jeans. Oh the value of photos.
