Fall is still very warm for us here so transition outfits and early fall outfits have more to do with color and pattern than with your typical fall pieces like scarves and sweaters. This orange top paired with navy and plaid made a perfect fall office outfit without being too warm. I love the booties with the ankle pants too. I typically save these booties for the spring (seen here) due to their lighter color but I'm utilizing them for  fall transitions until it gets a little cooler and I can bust out my suede booties.

It started raining while I was taking these photos. Ignore the rain drops.

Hope your week is off to a great start.

Pantone chose a deeper richer version of emerald to be the fall green this year. It's called Lush Meadow. I'm still partial to olive, so I've rounded up some must have choices in both colors. Which color is your favorite?

Last chance picks

It's getting close to the close of the Nordstrom Anniversary sale. Prices will go up August 8. If you haven't caught on to all the hype about this sale yet, this is new fall merchandise discounted up front, not like getting clearance later.

Here are some final picks of items to grab before the sale ends. The BlankNYC jacket has been really popular and is available in only a size or two. If you have ever considered getting a Clarisonic Mia, now is the time. This price is cheaper than Black Friday sale prices. I got one for Christmas last year and we paid more, but I like it for skin cleansing and exfoliation. If you want to try new beauty products, special kits like this are usually a deal and a great way to try a whole set at less cost than purchasing separately.

Anniversary sale picks

Chelsea28 Jacquard Long Vest • $79.90
Caslon ® Draped Utility Jacket (Regular & Petite) • Caslon • $44.90
BLANKNYC 'Easy Rider' Faux Leather Moto Jacket • Blank NYC • $64.90
Socialite Cowl Neck Shift Dress • Socialite • $24.90
Lush 'Whitney' Bell Sleeve Woven Shift Dress • Lush • $31.90

Nordstrom sale outfit ideas

The Nordstrom anniversary sale is open for public access today. If you have been watching or thinking about some items and wondering how to wear them, let me show you. I've created three outfits from the items I put in my picks, plus a few extras.  Outfits #1 and #3 would be perfect for fall.

Outfit #1

Nordstrom fall outfit
Panacea Beaded Circle Pendant Necklace • $15.90
Two by Vince Camuto Sleeveless Waffle Stitch Cowl Neck Sweater • $45.90
TOMS Majorca Peep Toe Bootie • Toms • $59.97
NYDJ 'Ami' Colored Stretch Super Skinny Jeans (Regular & Petite) • NYDJ • $75.90

If the sweater has sold out and not restocked, you could always substitute this sweater, this sweater or this top for late summer/early fall.

Outfit #2

I've already got a similar tunic sweater I bought from Nordstrom last year and I've got boyfriend jeans in my closet. The scarf,   bracelet,  and booties are hopefully on their way to me and I can't wait to wear this outfit. I hope the booties fit.  This scarf would work too.

Ya'll, I'll admit I've had a difficult time getting into the Nordstrom Anniversary sale. Everyone says it's one of the best ones ever, but I've been seeing everyone's picks and posts and I've not been overly impressed.  It's just that it's so hot here, and we may be wearing shorts into October, it's hard for me to even fathom that I need anything for fall.

Are you tired of seeing the same ol' thing over and over? I am. Just sayin. I know there are some popular items we all like, but I get tired of seeing them. But I will admit that the more I see the posts and the more I search the website, the more things grow on me. So I've been searching for some things that can be worn early fall in the South and layered later in the winter. I've also tried to pick some things that haven't been posted over and over, and I kept it under $100. I don't know about your, but some things just aren't in my budget, even on sale.

I will also be sharing a business professional set of picks later, so make sure you are following me so you won't miss it. There truly are lots of great items out there and it's hard to stick them all in one post.

It's a great time to stock up on some classics and basics or dip your toes into a trend. The skinny neck scarf is coming onto the scene, so now might be a good time to give this trend a try. They have one in a floral print too. If you need boots, buy them now. I bought my cognac riding boots last year, so I don't need any this year. I've got the boots covered with a cognac pair, black pair, and a couple of heeled pairs for work. That's another reason I can't get into the sale- I've got most of my basics covered.

We are in the early access phase so you need a Nordstrom debit or credit card to shop. Sign up here.

 Happy Shopping!

Peep toes - Saturday shopping

One of the best ways to transition to spring is with the peep toe bootie or shootie. I love them. It's still cool enough in spring for a bootie but warm enough to let your toes out. So go get yourself a pedi and one of these fabulous pairs of shoes. I've chosen twelve for your perusal.

By this point in the season, most of us start itching for spring, color and some flowers. It's not here yet, so I pulled it into this outfit. The key to fall/winter florals is a dark background so they still look seasonally appropriate. I actually copied this whole outfit from Anne at In Residence.  I just don't have the cool blue suede booties she has, so I wore my black ones. I also wore the same necklace and earrings as the day before. These are my "go to" accessories when I don't have time to think about it.

Marsala tweed

I purchased this top back in the fall for two reasons- it has my favorite marsala/oxblood/wine color in it, and I knew it would work with my existing wardrobe (last seen here.) I know that I just wore these pants a week ago with black and leopard, but this is one of those pieces that I seem to be stuck on right now and insistent on making outfit after outfit with them. They were a perfect pair to this top.

Who's glad it's Friday? I know I am. It seems to get harder and harder for me to make it through a week.
