Marsala tweed

Cardigan- Gap  option  option  option
blouse- TJMaxx  option  option  option
pants- Target  option  option
shoes- TJMaxx  option  option
necklace- Poshmark  option
worn Jan. 20, 2016

I purchased this top back in the fall for two reasons- it has my favorite marsala/oxblood/wine color in it, and I knew it would work with my existing wardrobe (last seen here.) I know that I just wore these pants a week ago with black and leopard, but this is one of those pieces that I seem to be stuck on right now and insistent on making outfit after outfit with them. They were a perfect pair to this top.

Who's glad it's Friday? I know I am. It seems to get harder and harder for me to make it through a week.

Saturday shopping - Nordstrom sale picks

Nordstrom sale picks

Happy Saturday! I hope your new year is going well so far. There are a couple of days left to shop the Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale, so I thought I'd share some of my picks. These are based on some similar items I have that work well for my wardrobe and a couple of things that are just for fun. Whether you're getting much needed basics or a few splurges, sale time is always the best time to make these purchases.

Tweed coat- This will go with everything, casual and business outfits.
Pleione top- Love these. They can be paired for casual wear (as seen here) , or dressed up for work ( as seen here).
Earrings- why not?
Cowl neck tunic- great with leggings. I love a cowl neck and this color is irresistible.
Riding boots- I have these in the wide calf size. Comfortable. (Styled here.)
Tote- I use one everyday to get my stuff to and from work.
Cardigan- throw it on over that Pleione top.
Poncho- Always a fun winter piece.
Ankle booties- this style goes well with both casual and dressier outfits.
Glitter Toms- 'cause we can always use a little sparkle in our day.

Happy Shopping.

Festive green

Blazer- Macy's  option  option
blouse- TJMaxx  option  option  option
pants- Loft similar
shoes- Ann Klein via Belk  option  option
necklace- Sears  option
bracelet- Ann Taylor
worn Dec. 23, 2015

I mentioned yesterday that green was my holiday "go to" color last week. Here's the outfit I wore to work Christmas Eve eve. A little green tweed number that has a little metallic silver thread running through it. I thought this jacket was probably on it's way out because I've worn it with black and white before  ( here too)  and didn't think I had any more options for it. I get bored with limiting items. But then I saw this green and blue  print top and thought this would make an interesting print mixing outfit. Jacket saved!

Saturday shopping

I had a different feature planned for this week's Saturday shopping but I couldn't resist all the great sales out there.

Ann Taylor is having 50% off fall must haves with code HELLOFALL
Loft is taking 40% off EVERTHING with code FALL40
Banana Republic is taking 60% off all sale items with code BRSALE

Here are some of my picks

Here are some more things you just can't go wrong with for a fall wardrobe that will be on trend yet wearable year after year:

Ponchos are still in and this stripe poncho sweater from Loft would be a great one to have. I mean it has stripes.

Tweed- always classic yet trendy. Check out this layered tweed shift at Ann Taylor.

Military jacket-   they keep coming back in one form or another. This one is a steal at Banana Republic right now.

Plaid is always in and this olive color utility shirt  is perfect for this season too.

Happy shopping!

Spring/summer tweed

jacket- Macy's
shirt- Sears option option
pants- Loft
shoes- Banana Republic option
purse- Kenneth Cole Reaction option option
Worn May 31, 2014

I picked up this jacket for less than $25 on clearance at Macy's last month. A perfect addition for spring and summer. As much as I like green, I really don't have much of it in my closet, so this piece is a good addition for that reason also. It has little silver threads in it so I was prompted to pair it with my silver pumps. I also played up the black and white.

Coral, grey and brown

Shirt- Gap similar
Jacket - thrifted
pants- JCPenney
shoes- thrifted
Worn Nov. 15, 2013

Coral, grey and brown is a color combination I would not have thought of without inspiration. Here's what I was working with:

I have a skirt and another blouse that would  more closely match this pin but I wanted to wear the shirt I'm wearing. I also needed a jacket for work so I added the lighter grey tweed.

Familiar

Jacket- thrifted; shirt- JCrew Factory
pants/shoes- JCPenney
necklace- Groopdealz
worn Oct. 22, 2013

Do these pieces look familiar? It's the tweed jacket again with the polka dot popover. And I'm getting a lot of wear out of the necklace. These are all pieces worth my investment.

Have a great weekend.

Tweed

Jacket- thrifted (similar) (similar); blouse- TJMaxx (option);
skirt- JCPenney (similar)
shoes- Belk
Worn Oct. 4, 2013

I snagged this jacket at the thrift store a long time ago and originally intended to add embellishment like ribbon roses or such to the edge. I never got around to it, and now I'm glad I didn't. I'm loving it plain now. It will be a great fall/winter piece for me.

Pastel for fall

Jacket- old (option); blouse- old;
pants- TJMaxx (similar)
shoes- Payless
Worn Sept. 10, 2013

Boucle or tweed? I'm going with boucle for this jacket. I've also seen them used together to describe material. So which is it? I've had this jacket forever and it has a matching skirt. I've seen that pastels are going to be trendy for fall so I pulled this out of the back of the closet.

On another note, I'm not really comfortable with bright red lipstick. I'm trying it out again. Any suggestions?
