By this point in the season, most of us start itching for spring, color and some flowers. It's not here yet, so I pulled it into this outfit. The key to fall/winter florals is a dark background so they still look seasonally appropriate. I actually copied this whole outfit from Anne at In Residence.  I just don't have the cool blue suede booties she has, so I wore my black ones. I also wore the same necklace and earrings as the day before. These are my "go to" accessories when I don't have time to think about it.

Finds under $30- Saturday shopping

Since I'm still working on a new budget this month, and the under $25 posts seem to be popular, I thought I'd continue with these Saturday shopping posts under a certain price point this month. This time it's under $30 because it does get hard to continue to find great things under $25, but many of these items are still under $25 or very close to that price point.

I had a little trouble with some layering this week, and I'll be posting about that soon, so I think this faux layered top and this one are great finds. The pink skirt would be cute for a Valentine's day outfit and I've been crushing on pom pom beanies so I'll be keeping an eye on these items myself.

Happy Shopping!

I don't normally consider my outerwear as part of an outfit. Once in a while, a light jacket will be part of an outfit, like a denim jacket or utility jacket, but when it comes to staying warm, the outer piece isn't necessarily part of the outfit. With that said, since it has been so cold lately, I thought I'd throw in a shot of my coat. I do choose a neutral color for a coat that will coordinate with most anything. What are your thoughts on outerwear?

The outfit  consists of these maroon pants that I've shown a couple of times before. Here are two other ways I've worn them:

I also made the necklace I'm wearing. Details HERE on my craft blog.

Jewel tones

Blouse- Sear's spend save
Sweater- Target similar
pants- JCPenney
shoes- JCPenney
blazer- old
necklace- Statement Boutique via Groopdealz

I'm always drawn to jewel tones at some point during the fall/winter. I've had these pieces for quite some time but have never worn them together. Last week's weather called for layering so I was able to put them together in one outfit. I love it when I can revive old pieces from my closet.

Going green

Shirt- Sears; sweater- Gap;
pants- Belk's; Shoes- Target
blazer-old
Worn Jan. 10, 2013

Are you making any efforts to "go green" this year? We have stepped up what we put in the recycle box vs the trash and are actually creating less trash and recyle now that we are eating less processed foods and more whole foods.

Oh, this was really about the sweater, but it doesn't hurt to be considerate of the earth and our resources either.

This was a fun outfit with the bright pop of green over the grey. I'm really into sweaters layered over button up shirts with rolled cuffs. And bright sweaters are even better!

I'm still here. I haven't posted in a week because I have been busy getting ready for Christmas. I think we are actually ahead of the curve this year.

This is another outfit inspired by one I found on Pinterest. I love that teal has been so popular this year.

Here's the inspiration photo:
