Happy Fall! I think we are all waiting for some cooler temps and a chance to change up the wardrobe. Fall is finally here on the calendar. We've still got highs on the 80's but today is actually a nice day with a cool feel to it so I'm hopeful.

I actually wore this outfit a couple of weeks ago when I caved to social media pressure to start wearing fall items. All of these pieces have been in my closet for a few years. Ruffles are a return trend for this fall, so I'm ready with my button up ruffle blouse in browns and rust. I'm not as crazy about ruffles as I used to be but I'm glad I kept this top. How to have fun at work

How to have fun at work? Wear colored shoes! Well, maybe it won't make you have fun at work, but when the day gets long and tough, you can look down at your brightly colored feet and have a moment of happiness.

I was hesitant to purchase these coral pumps and I'm still very careful about how I wear them, but they go so well with this skirt. And even though this skirt is a little old now, I still love creating outfits with it and wearing it. And it has pockets!

Subtle hints

I actually wore this outfit to work the week of July 4th. It has subtle hints of red, white and blue. Actually its tan, burgundy and navy, but the subtle hints are still there. It's just appropriate for any time of the year and doesn't scream "patriotic holiday". Even if it did, I'd still wear it because I like red, white and blue any time of the year.

Dressing up a striped tee

Grab a power suit and throw it on with a striped tee and you've instantly dressed up your tee! Not every striped tshirt will work, but a nice soft one with a fancy trim like this one does the trick. The one I'm wearing is no longer available, but I think this Top Shop tee with crochet trim would look cute peeking out from a suit or blazer.

Currently I'm... calling - my mother. I loved to call my friends as a teenager and tie up the phone line for hours, but now I hate to make phone calls. I do it as required all day at work, but at home I hate to make calls, so my mother is the only one privileged to receive a phone call from me. And occasionally the hubby when I need to communicate to him where I am or what's going on, and then it might just be a text. Are you into making phone calls and chatting it up, or do you communicate with friends and loved ones another way?

NSale work wear picks

As promised on Saturday, here is a round up of some Nordstrom Anniversary sale business professional work pieces. (See some casual picks here.) These will make great investments as they can be mixed and matched with lot of things and worn many ways. The tops are all available in multiple colors and prints, and most everything else (pants, skirts, shoes) have multiple color options. (I wouldn't necessarily mix and match the color choices shown here, but all pieces come in colors they will work well with items you probably already have.)
