I wore this blazer and top with pants here, but I changed up a bit and went with booties and a skirt. I really like this version. I think this look with be a good one too if I swapped the blazer for a moto jacket. I have stayed away from the moto jackets because I told myself that I couldn't wear them to work but there are some options now that would totally work for the office with an outfit like this one.  I'm thinking that this one, this one or this moto jacket would work. What do you think?

I've been eyeing the nude palettes from Maybelline for a while and finally gave in and purchased the blushed nudes and nudes just before Halloween. Searching for Halloween makeup tutorials got me hooked on general makeup tutorials and some new products so I've been having fun playing with make up lately. I'd recommend this palette if you are looking for some pinks and don't want to spend a ton on colors you may not like.

Red skirt-three ways

Sweater- Target  option  option  option

Happy Monday! No, I'm not usually this excited for Monday and I have a busy week ahead, so I'm just trying to psych myself up for it.

I've managed to get a little behind again on posts. I wore this Sunday a week ago. I expected to be hot in the sweater, but I survived.  I'd loved to have paired this with a different shoe, a light grey maybe, but I had to work with the closet I've got.

Here are two other ways I've worn this skirt. I think I've worn it more than this but I'm drawing a blank. It's one of my favorite skirts.

Print skirt and VCRs

Blouse- Loft  similar  similar  similar
skirt- JCPenney  option  option   option
shoes- Belk  option
worn May 27, 2015

This morning the radio announcer asked if anyone still had a VCR and VHS tapes. He asked if anyone still watched those VHS tapes. Why yes, we do have a VCR, and for a good while, it was the way our whole system was routed through to make the surround sound and such work. Repair men, and especially the alarm guy who also does sound systems, would come in our home, look at my husband, and say "Sir is that a VCR?" As if it were a dinosaur or something.

I am happy to report we got Uverse a few months ago and we don't use the VCR. We didn't watch VHS tapes either, but like some callers on the radio, I think we have a few for sentimental value. SO, do you still have a VCR?

I last wore this skirt with a patterned top, but I wanted to get another wearing in while I was still inside my self imposed spring capsule. I paired it with the pale yellow button up. This outfit was so simple I almost felt like I wasn't dressed, but I was definitely cooler without a blazer.

Pattern Mixing

Top- JCPenney
skirt- JCPenney  option  option
shoes- gifted option  option
worn May 12, 2015

I got a little bolder with pattern mixing. I think it works when you stay in the same color family. I realize this isn't for everyone, and I wouldn't do this every day, but I liked how this turn out. I was actually inspired by the online JCP catalog showing this top with a patterned skirt.

By the way, I allowed myself one substitution after thirty days in my capsule and this is it. I replaced the patterned pencil skirt with this one. That other skirt just doesn't fit well and isn't comfortable. Even if it fit well, it's too high waisted for my short torso. So be looking for the other skirt on Poshmark soon if you are interested.

Black, white and grey

Blazer- Dress Barn option option
blouse- JCrew Factory (says sold out but still available as final sale)
skirt- Target (thrifted) option
shoes- JCPenney option option
necklace- JCrew Factory

You can tell from the post title that this outfit is black, white and grey, but let me clarify again, it is black, white and grey. As the days shorten, I begin to have color cast issues with photos, so this looks navy on my monitor. If it looks that way on yours, it's black, not navy.

Where do you find outfit inspiration? I find it in all places- other bloggers, store mannequins, online ads. This one came from the Nordstrom website.

And here's a look back at how I wore this skirt in the spring:

This outfit was inspired by Stylish Petite. I've said it before, but I love finding outfits that I can recreate with the items in my closet with no shopping involved. I changed up the accessories to make it my own.

I've been away a couple of days because I went on a trip with our church youth group to Atlanta Fest.  Those kids are so much fun. I'm not even going to apologize for being behind. Time spent with them is worth it.

I love to wear a lady like outfit on Sunday, and this one does it for me. At least it makes me feel ladylike. I wore this to church on Sunday. I purchased this skirt last year on a whim but it's gotten its share of wear.

Return of the coral blazer

Blazer- Forever 21 option
skirt- Isaac Mizrahi for Target- thrifted option
shirt- old option
shoes- Ann Klein/Belks
necklace- gift option
Worn April 2, 2014

I was so happy for the return of spring and the chance to wear my coral blazer again. I purchased it towards the end of the summer last year, so I'm looking forward to give it a fair share of wear this year. And skirts too. I love the cut of this one. Next to a good pencil skirt, an a-line is a must.
