Bangs and bobby pins

Blazer- JCrew Factory option  option
blouse- Target
trousers- Loft  option
shoes- Payless  option  option
worn May 28, 2015

I got aggravated with my bangs (or that section that used to be but has grown out now) hanging in my face at work so I dug around in  my purse and found a bobby pin. I pulled them back, over, twisted a little and inserted the bobby pin. What's your favorite way to pin bangs?

This is another version of what I've worn before, replacing  the cardigan with a blazer. Not very creative, but I was dressed for the day.

Bright colors and I'm not ashamed

Cardigan- August Silk/ TJMaxx  option  option
shirt- JCrew Factory  option  option
pants- Loft  option
shoes- JCPenney
Worn- March 23, 2015

It's spring so I have pulled out the color, and have found a way to wear these pants other than pairing them with black and white. The last time I wore them I mused about how I had always paired them with black and white. And I'm not ashamed to say I flat out copied this look from Jessica at Here and Now. I just swapped the skirt from her look for pants. I'm also on the hunt for another cardigan in this color. This one has seen a lot of wear over several years and is fading.

Red sweater again

It's the red sweater again. This time as a layer over my polka dot popover. Below are three other ways I've worn this sweater. I always seem to wear it with black but I could just as easily create this same outfit and the one below with the  pencil skirt with identical pieces in navy. Or pair it with camel or khaki or tan or...well, you get the idea. I'd say it's a pretty versatile piece.

Have you ever participated in a capsule wardrobe? There's a great explain of capsule wardrobe HERE. I sort of did that after completing my 30x30 remix for the fall season but I could not commit to just 37 pieces or even 44 or any arbitrary number that included shoes. 30x30 was tough trying to include a work wardrobe and an off duty wardrobe. So I think I basically came up with 40-50 work wear pieces that I worked through and this red sweater was one of them. So was the polka dot popover and the cobalt pants that you've seen the last three months. I'm still creating outfits from that capsule. I just didn't put it out here that I was doing that because I knew I'd deviate from it some. Our weather is too crazy as well. I doubt I could commit to a "winter" wardrobe from Jan. to March. It was 70 degrees today and by March I may have shorts out. Who knows? I was surprised that I started needing the sweaters sooner than I thought in the Oct-Dec period. All that said, it did certainly stop the shopping the last couple of months and makes life much easier to have a list of outfits to go to when I'm ready to pick an outfit for the day. What are your thoughts on capsules or wardrobe planning?

One more thing....that fur collar sweater is for sale on Poshmark if you are interested.

Interjecting color

Worn Dec. 8, 2014

I was told by my coworker last week that I looked "springy". I wasn't going for a spring look. I've got lots of sweaters and scarves to wear before I look forward to spring again, but I was certainly going for warmth with layers. And I'm certainly not afraid to interject a little color into a winter day.

The last time I wore this patterned shirt, I wore it by itself in a casual outfit. This time I made it part of my business attire.

Graphic tee

Blazer- old option option
jeans- Loft
booties- Target   option   option  option
necklace- JCrew Factory  option
bracelet- Lulus  option
Worn Oct. 5, 2014

It took me long enough to get on board with the graphic tees but I'm here! I kept missing the ones I wanted on sale because they would sell out but I was able to snag a couple over the Labor Day weekend sales. It was killing me to wait until my 30x30 was over to wear them. And I love this outfit so much, I may just repeat this formula over and over until winter. Blazer+graphic tee+jeans+booties+statement necklace (if you want to dress it up) It's perfect for our warm fall weather, but still looks seasonally appropriate with the booties. And let me tell you how much I love these Loft jeans- most comfortable jeans I've ever worn. They stretch but still hug your body without ever getting baggy or saggy. LOVE them!

Popover glam

Blouse- JCrew Factory on sale
skirt- Limited  similar   option  option
necklace- Sears  option  option
shoes- Banana Republic  option
Worn August 26, 2014

The JCrew Popover is on super sale right now so go grab yourself one. I've worn mine so many ways from casual to this more "glam" version. It's the heels and necklace that glam it up a bit.  I've had a version of this outfit pinned forever and finally got around to wearing it to work this week. I love the contrast of the green against the black. The skirt is suprisingly versatile too, so if your on the fence about getting a bright skirt, the Labor Day weekend sales would be a great time to go for it.

Surprised to see me today? I meant to post this yesterday but didn't make it. I just wanted to make sure I shared this outfit now because I loved it so much. I've got a couple of others I'm putting on hold because I'm going to start a 30x30 challenge September first. September has thirty days so it will work out nice and even. Anyone else done one or game for this year? I'm so sick of staring at my closet trying to decide what to wear or how to mix something in a way I haven't before, so I thought this would be good for me. Check back tomorrow and see what I've chosen for my thirty pieces.

White pants

Blazer- Cato option
blouse- JCrew factory
pants- Loft (sold out)  option option
shoes- Payless option
earrings- Target option
Worn July 24, 2014

After a two to three year search, I found a pair of white pants and I have put them to good use this summer. They have been in frequent rotation. I paired them here with the JCrew Factory cutaway top in emerald pool. I had the shirt on my wish list for a long time and finally purchased it during a sale last month. I added a blazer for the office because my work environment is very conservative and I was afraid some might frown on the back.

Here are three other ways I've worn my white pants:  1 23

Mint and Navy

Blazer- JCrew Factory
skirt- Target option
shoes- TJMaxx
necklace-JCrew Factory
Worn May 12, 2014

I was prepared to totally copy J's outfit but at the last minute I switched the cardigan for the blazer. It was hot and humid and I felt like the blazer would breathe better than the snugger fitting cardigan. I love the results. I've also upgraded my thrift store navy pencil skirt for this one from Target. The thrift store find had an elastic waist and wasn't always the most flattering to me.
