Making lemonade

This really has nothing to do with lemonade. It's just what I thought of when I looked at this pale yellow shirt. I guess you could say it's making lemonade out of lemons when you take a hot summer day and manage to look summery and polished in work attire. I'm so sick of coming home and peeling wet clothes off of me after work. I manage in the office, but once the day is over and I make a few stops after work, my clothes are stuck to me. Fall where are you?

Let's talk about earrings for a minute. Whenever I wear a statement necklace, I like to let it have all the attention. So I fall back to simple 14k gold hoops for earrings. I have had mine since I was a teenager, and sadly, the clasps are worn to the point that I  can't fasten a couple of pairs. The ones I'm wearing here still work. Do you have any classic earrings in your collection? Hoops or studs?

Currently I'm watching.... nothing. The Walking Dead is not back on yet. I don't really watch anything else. I went for months once with no cable or TV service of any kind. And I didn't miss it. I think the hubby would miss it now, but not me. When you have TV, you have the news and you have stress because the media is so full of it. What are you watching currently? Any good series I should get into?

Summer essentials

Top- New York and Co  option   option  option

earrings- Tuesday Morning

Summer essentials- white jeans, or shorts, or crops if you live anywhere near me. It's gotten too hot for these jeans, unless I'm going to be indoors most of the time. Another summer essential should be the off shoulder or cold shoulder top. I think this trend will be around a couple of years at least. I first debuted this top with wide leg linen pants and now I'm pairing it with white jeans. I love the contrast of my darker blue wedge sandals. Add those the summer essential list- a good pair of espadrille wedges.

Currently I'm... playing? I'm "playing" catchup with my scrapbooks. I don't play video games or even board games all that often, but the college age kids in the Sunday School class we teach are totally into Pokémon Go. The front of our church is even a stop for catching one. What are you currently playing? Are you into the pokemon craze or any gaming?

Something I struggle with

I went pretty conservative and all business with this outfit. I have days at work when this is just more appropriate than wearing a bright color or funky shoes. I still have color with the red blouse, but it's more classic and conservative than even some prints would be.

Sorry if you thought because of the title that I'd be sharing some deep dark personal secret. I'm not. I am sharing something personal, but it's not an earth shattering struggle of any sorts. I struggle with journaling, even blogging here sometimes. I have a total lack of things to say and I'm beginning to wonder if I'm boring. I scrapbook as a hobby and to keep my family's memories recorded, but I've gotten way behind. Even when I was current with the scrapbooking, I didn't like journaling. I find it difficult to do that part. If there is a fun story to tell, I can do it, but sometimes the photos speak for themselves and journaling the facts is redundant and boring. And you can bet it's even harder to tell the stories now that I'm about ten years behind.

I certainly don't write witty or personal blog posts either, but I'd like to be a bit more personal. I started researching writing and journaling prompts and how to be a better writer. I hated keeping journals in school when the teachers required it as a class. I didn't keep diaries or journals as a kid. The short period of times I did, I'd go back and destroy them. I have found some interesting and thought provoking prompts, but when I see prompts like "what you had for lunch today" I think "Who cares?" As long as I'm fed and not hungry, who cares what it was? Even things like "list your favorite... color, drink, etc..." sometimes leave me drawing a blank. But when I really think about it, I can come up with a few favorites. So.....

I said all that to say that I'm going to try and weave it a few personal bits here and there into my blogging. If you care to know- if not and you just want to see outfit photos, let me know and all will be well.

I'm going to try a few exercises for the sake of having journaling in my scrapbooks, so I may as well share a few details here. Edye at Graceful Coffee recently shared 30 blog post ideas which are really good if you need some prompts.

I'll start with a "Currently I'm..." list I found elsewhere.

Currently I'm- Reading- I'm not. I don't read much beyond blog posts and Instagram posts. I used to read books, but I stopped several years ago. John Grisham is probably the last author I've read. The last book I bought to read was Ann Voskamp's 1,000 Gifts  and I haven't finished it.

Just curious, do you read? Books or ebooks? Do you journal?

Thanks for sticking around if you are still reading.

More summer touches

Happy Friday!

Today I'm sharing another look that I've made more summer appropriate with a bright colored blouse and peep toe booties. It's very hard to stay cool and look summer appropriate in an office that calls for conservative business wear, but with a few switches your basic dark suits can be worn year round. A bright colored blouse or accessory and lighter shoes are one of the easiest switches to make. What are your tricks for summer work wear?

Did you know that I have some great summer pieces listed in my Poshmark closet?  Come check them out and make me an offer- no reasonable offer is refused. I have a cute white Banana Republic fit and flare skirt that would make someone a great summer piece, a cute cardigan that would look great over this sundress, and this fabulous Loft leopard pencil skirt that all need a good home.

Light and bright

Going light and bright again with the business wear. It's my feeble attempt to make myself think it's not really 100 degrees outside. But it is and it's hot. Work should be cancelled for the summer.

Seriously, chartreuse can be a hard color to play with, but I love it paired with grey. Almost as much as my previous pairing of chartreus and cobalt. I could have chosen grey pumps with this, but I thought the cognac gave this outfit a little more interest. What are some of your favorite color pairings?
