I began to get a little bored with just black and white outfits, so I used a black and white base of a gingham shirt and black pants and added a little bit of color with mustard flats. Leopard is another neutral but adds a fun pattern. The khaki blazer helped keep this more in line with business attire. And yes, you have seen this Stella and Dot necklace a lot. I have worn it a lot since I purchased it and love how it breaks down to make multiple necklaces.

You would think that there is no more room left on this bandwagon, but I'm on there too. The blanket scarf bandwagon. I bought mine back in September or October and I'm just now wearing this one. I bought another one and it's seen a little more wear. As much as I love these things, it's just not cold enough or practical enough to wear it daily here. But is sure is fun when I do.

Here's a look back at the last time I wore the mustard cardigan:

Mustard top- 3 ways

I love how mustard plays so well with jewel tones and fall and winter colors. Above are three ways I've worn this knit mustard top. Below is the last way that I wore it. I happened to have the blouse next to the teal blazer in the closet for some reason or other and loved how the two looked together, so a new outfit was born.

Excuse the photos below. I have a new camera and I tried the auto and tungsten white balance and both are awful inside my house. I did some very rudimentary editing. Total color correction was changing the color of the blazer too much so I only corrected the door back to white.  I guess I need to set a custom white balance for my house. Those grey pants are the same in one and three above but look almost brown in the third photo thanks to the color cast indoors. And yes, the sidelights in my door look weird, but the Christmas lighs outside are having an effect.

Today's post is going up late because the dog vomitted in her kennel overnight. That was fun to wake up to. My morning time before work was spent giving the dog a sponge bath that didn't help much so she just got another full bath. Bella smells good now.

Back to work, back to work. Hope you had a great weekend. Mine was not as productive as it should have been, but I made some progress on some chores and did a couple of fun things. And today was easier to face as a Monday because tomorrow is a holiday!

I fell in love with a mustard cardigan a couple of years ago and went to great lengths to find one. It was one of those items that was sold out by the time I decided to purchase one. However, I found one and still love it. Below are three other ways I've worn it.
You might also want to take a peek back at four ways I've worn a purple cardigan.

30x30 recap

Here's all 30 outfits in one place. Look HERE for the original pieces. You can check each post September 1-30 for outfit details.

My thoughts? Doing this really got the creative juices going on putting together outfits and using pieces in ways I had not worn them before. I was able to put together way more than thirty outfits, but by about day 20 I was really bored with these pieces. I in no way want to limit my wardrobe to 30 pieces or even 37 for three months. I'll admit it's an intriguing idea but I just don't think I could do it. I have such a super conservative dress code for work that I needed more pieces than 30 combined for personal and work gave me. Some days I even need more flexibility for work- pants are better for some activities I will be performing than skirts and some days casual attire is allowed (but it's not attire I'd blog about- it's like standard uniform khakis and polo or button down and safe, functionable shoes, not anything I consider fashionable.)

I got really bored with the lack of options for off duty attire. I feel like I wore the same pair of jean three times a week. I didn't really but close. Some of the extra outfits were created from these thirty pieces and a couple of times I pulled something else from the closet to go with them. (Not all of the extras got photographed so they are not pictured.)

I did like the ease of having outfits put together ahead of time and having less options actually made that easier so I have given some consideration to the capsule wardrobe but instead of trying to limit myself entirely and packing away other things, I'll just be using the concept for creating outfits in the future with no self commitment to wearing only those items for a set number of days.

AND shoes- I love shoes. I did not like limiting my shoe choices. Shoes are accessories and some of my outfit ideas needed different shoes.

I hope that I don't come off as spoiled. I readily admit I have too many clothes and shoes and if God only blessed me with thirty items to wear, I'd happily wear them as I trust he would also give me peace and contentment in that. Thank you Lord for clothing me AND giving me options in that.

Mustard and wine and a cheat

Happy Friday! Even though I've had a couple of days off work this week, I'm glad it's Friday. It's been a long week and those days off were not really vacation days, just personal business.

Today I'm pairing the mustard and wine/burgundy/oxblood pants with leopard and gray. And I'm cheating on the 30x30. This blazer isn't part of the mix. It almost made it into the choices but I decided on the darker gray blazer to have a matching suit option for work. However, I think this blazer works best with this outfit and fits the look I wanted. But to keep you updated with true outfits from the 30x30 mix, below is a shot of the outfit with the black blazer from the mix. Works, but I like the grey better.

This is the halfway mark of my 30x30.  I'll admit I'm getting a little bored because I'm thinking  "I just wore these pieces last week."  However, I am still enjoying the ease of walking into the closet in the mornings knowing exactly what I'm wearing. And I'm entertained at the number of outfits I've been able to come up with- more than 30. I'll probably do a post on the "bonus" outfits sometime after this is over.

I pulled in just a little leopard this time with the belt.

Leopard, grey and mustard

I love grey and mustard (or yellow) together. Aside from wearing this blouse with teal, grey is the only color I've worn it with. I need to expand this blouse's wear, thus it's in the mix for my 30x30. I'm loving the leopard with this also. I wouldn't normally pair leopard with grey, but the mustard is tying it together nicely.
