Still in a rut

Blouse/ pants- TJMAXX; blazer- Belk's
shoes- Famous Footwear
Worn Aug. 10, 2012

I was still in a rut about how to remix my wardrobe and get through the summer, so this is another outfit that was inspired by a browse through the net. I went back to my "pins" and "likes" and I guess I didn't save it, but the blue and grey combo was one I picked up somewhere in my browsing. No it's not new or innovative, but this shirt is one of those that I was only wearing one way, with one suit. I like the way it works with these trouser pants and grey blazer.

Another Pinterest inspired look that brought me out of a rut. I think red and taupe has become a new favorite color combination, especially with leopard. Here's the pin that inspired the look:

Who knew white would be so hard to photograph? Who knew white on white would look so good? Not me. During that slump when I turned to Pinterest for inspiration, I found these looks which inspired my look above.

Pinterest inspired

Blazer, blouse- thrifted; pants- Sears;
 shoes- Famous Footwear
Worn August 7, 2012

Around August I began to run out of outfit ideas but I needed to make my wardrobe stretch through summer. So I did some pinterest searching based on certain items in my wardrobe, like my pink blazer, and came up with this navy and pink combo based on this pin. I'm not crazy about this outfit, but it's okay for work. And I have more ideas for mixing in white with pink and navy from that particular pin as well, so I have ideas for next summer too.

Brights

Blazer- Forever 21, shirt- thrifted
pants- JCPenney; shoes- Payless
Worn August 3, 2012

I'll likely be retiring this pairing soon since summer is officially over, but I'm sure I'll wear it again if bright colors return next summer. I think it's totally acceptable and professional to wear brights to the office. If I stay too conservative, I get bored.

Grey leopard print

Cardigan- Old Navy; blouse/ pants- Belk's'
shoes- Target; brooch- thrifted
Worn July 31, 2012

I have a love- hate relationship with this cardigan. I love the print but don't find the fit to be very flattering. I tried to give it some help by adding the brooch as if it had a button, but I don't think that helped. I wore it HERE with a casual outfit and like that look a little better but still not enough to question keeping it. So should I attempt to alter it? Maybe take it the sides? Or toss it in the donate pile?

With a little orange

Cardigan- Target; skirt- Belk's; tank- Old Navy
necklace- JCPenney; shoes- Target
worn July29, 2012

I'm sure there are other ways to style this skirt other than with white, but I've been drawn to white every time. At least it's not black- I wore this skirt with a black top most of last year. I did add a pop of orange with the tank this time.
