Are you on board with the kimono trend? I ignored it at first, thinking it was too "young" and too impractical for me. I certainly can't wear this to work. Then it showed up on the GYPO Summer Style challenge shopping list and I said "NO." Then I saw the other ladies shopping and posting, so I started looking. Since I'm petite (short) I think a shorter one looks best. I like them if they don't hang much longer than the hem of the bottoms or dress being worn. I found this one online at Forever 21 and decided it would make a nice summer to fall neutral piece. Of course, I also searched out the looks on Pinterest before I fully decided if this is for me on not. I have some other looks pinned that I will be trying out. I also ordered a floral kimono from Jane.com and had to return it  because it was too large and there was no exchange option, so I'm still on the hunt for a floral one now that I've embraced this piece.

This outfit was Day 13 of the challenge- kimono, flowy tank, white shorts, wedges.

I spent a good chunk of my long weekend cleaning out the closet. I've listed several things on Poshmark. If you're interested, check out my Poshmark closet.

Remember the hot pink blazer and 7 ways to wear it?

It's up for grabs HERE.  Make an offer. I consider all offers over $5. Let's be real- I'm left with $2 out of a $5 sale, and that's not enough to buy a box or envelope to ship the item in. I also do bundles and discount the total by 20%.

Here are some pieces that would make a totally chic outfit paired together:

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a great week!

Summer style

Happy Friday! I'm so glad to have a day off work. I'm recapping a few more Summer Style Challenge outfits today.

Day 9 called for a graphic tee and boyfriend shorts with sneakers.  I don't own lace up sneakers and find tees and denim a little boring without some accessories, so I added my leopard slip on sneakers and fedora with leopard band.  I have a few hats now, and this one is my favorite. It was a $7 clearance purchase for our camping trip last fall, and I love it. It has a very narrow brim and doesn't get in the way. This is also one of my favorite graphic tees. It says "All I really need today are a little coffee and a whole lot of Jesus."

Day 10 called for a chambray top, flowy tank, white shorts, and metallic sandals. It may have been a lace shorts day, but I don't own lace shorts and haven't found an age appropriate length that I care for. This is one of my least favorite outfits of the challenge and I probably would never wear this. I think it would be cuter with shorter shorts, but it just doesn't work for me overall.

Day 12 was lace top with boyfriend shorts + metallic sandals + stud earrings. (I skipped 11- maxi dress + metallic sandals + floppy hat.) The challenge item was a white lace top and I don't own one of those either, but I have this taupe color lace top. I've worn this top with a skirt before and have other ideas for it, but would not have thought of the boyfriend shorts without the challenge prompt. I really liked this outfit.

Are you a fan of palazzo pants? When the trend first came back around, I said no. But thanks to the GYPO Summer challenge I ended up adding a pair back to my wardrobe. I say "adding back"  because I wore these 15-20 years ago. And loved them! I just didn't think I could justify purchasing something I couldn't wear to work now, but then I decided I could wear these to church, or out to dinner. So...palazzo pants it is. This was Day 8 of the challenge. They were supposed to be paired with a flowy tank and metallic sandals, but mine are too long for flats and I like this shirt better with this pair than with any of my knit flowy tanks. I do have a dressier, chiffon flowy tank to pair with these later, but was having an undergarment (bra) issue this particular evening so this shirt won. Ever have that happen? Bra straps? Wrong color glaring through?

I also want to say welcome and thanks for following to any of the ladies that may be new to my blog from the challenge group. You are an awesome group of ladies!

Maxi dress

I've renewed my interest in maxi dresses, thanks to the GYPO Summer Style challenge. I was particularly happy to find one I can wear with flat sandals. Being in the petite height range creates a problem with wearing maxi dresses and skirts sometimes. I have another one in my closet I should pull out and wear again, but I love this one so much, it may get all the attention this summer. This outfit was based on Day 7 prompts. I followed the formula exactly.

What do you wear to a movie showing/reception when you are the event photographer? You need to be comfortable, able to be on your feet for a few hours, and able to move. You need to blend in with guests and still look professional. This is what I wore to an event we photographed recently. Oh yeah, I'm finally letting the cat out of the bag- my husband and I started a photography business this year. We are still learning. Don't judge our work by my blog photos. I take these myself with a tripod and remote and I'm still mastering that. I do much better work when I'm behind the camera. If you're interested, our website is here.
