Are we there yet?
pendant-old option
Are we there yet? Is it Friday? Almost... That's how I'm feeling about now.
It seems like everything in this outfit is old. Old but worn in a new way. And I apparently like wearing these shoes with these pants? Do you have pieces like that? You always wear the same shoes, or same accessories, or same whatever? Even if you change something else up?

Navy and red
watch- Fossil option
I'm not sure that I really like the shoes with this outfit. Maybe if they were a different color red or maybe if the whole outfit was navy? I doubt I'll ever repeat this blazer/shoes combo, but I'm not afraid to share my mistakes with you. This blog is what I really wear- not staged for photographs or posts.
We all have out hits and misses. What are yours? Do tell.

Nautical business
I've worn this striped sweater many times in the past and probably in a manner very similar to this outfit, but a few tweaks can always make something seem fresh. I've paired the navy stripes with heathered navy pants, red blazer and low heel loafers. Fun but still perfect for the office.
Almost there folks... Friday is coming.

Twice anchored
worn March 8, 2016
Lots of old pieces in this outfit, but put together in a new way. I wore the blouse and scarf together this way a couple of years ago. You can't see them in the photos, but the pants actually have a faint pinstripe in them, so I've got some subtle pattern mixing going on. You can treat pinstripes just like solid neutrals.

Red and leopard
pants- Loft similar
worn Nov. 16, 2015
I hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving weekend. It's back to work today. And I dread it. It's always hard to change gears and get back into the work routine after being off several days.
I have a love/hate relationship with the color red. But it plays well with leopard and I like this particular shade of red in this blazer, so why not pair the two?

Basics and pops
worn August 31
If you work in a business professional or business casual environment, there are some basic pieces you need. With these you can add pops of color, pattern and texture with your completer pieces and accessories to build multiple outfits. It will also take the guess work out of "what to wear to work". A white button up and some tan/khaki (neutral) pants are two of those basics. A colored blazer (or cardigan) and leopard belt are two examples of "pops". Any black, navy, tan, or grey pants will suffice for a neutral. They don't have to be tan. I just happen to like how to red goes with these tan pants for something a little different than red and black.
When I get stumped for outfit ideas I turn to formulas like these. Two basics + two pops. In this situation, my shoes are neutral but you could wear colored or patterned shoes as one of your pops.
Do you have a favorite formula or formulas for getting dressed?
