Color of the year

Blazer- old option
top- TJMaxx option  option
pants- Loft
necklace- Piperlime option option
shoes- JCPenney
worn Jan. 12, 2015

Do you follow the color of the year? Pantone's 2015 color of the year is marsala. At first I thought it was not much different than 2012's oxblood, but after looking a little closer, marsala is a little more earthy and has a bit more brown to it. It's not quite as deep of a red or as bold as oxblood, but I bet they are cousins. So this blazer is so 2012. Tsk tsk, so outdated. LOL. I have had this blazer for years and it's still going strong, no matter what fashion says is in or out.

But let's talk about these shoes now. If you look back at the last few posts, they have been getting a lot of wear lately. And I'm not sure they are going to hold up to it. They are getting a little worn. Do you ever get stuck on repeat with a pair of shoes or other item?

Tights

Sweater- JCPenney similar
skirt- JCrew Factory  option  option  option
shoes- Belk/ Ann Klein  similar
necklace- online boutique  option
bracelet- JCPenney  option
tights - old option

This sweater and skirt have been worn many times but not together. There's a first for everything. I got lots of compliments on this outfit at work, especially the skirt. The only problem is that I don't normally wear tights. It's just not usually cold enough for long enough but this year has been a little different so I busted out the tights. However, this skirt isn't lined and it just didn't lay well against the tights. Any suggestions? Longer slip?

Foggy morning

Blazer- Dress Barn  option
Shirt JCrew Factory  option
pants- Loft option  option  option
shoes- TJMaxx  option  option option
worn Dec. 3, 2014

I'm talking about the foggy weather last week, not my brain. If I were referencing my brain, every morning would be a foggy morning. To interject some brightness into the gloom, I pulled out my cobalt pants. I know that these pants must work with some other color pallete, but I always seem to wear them with black and white. I guess it keeps them office appropriate. Any suggestions on other office appropriate ways to wear them?

We had a three day cold spell, but it's back in the 70s now. At least I had a chance to pull out a scarf on Monday and wear it to work. I kept this outfit very neutral with black, white and grey but fun with stripes and dots. I chose flat shoes because I knew it was going to be a busy day.

What are your tricks for staying conservative but still wearing fun things to the office?

The last of the tired week

Blazer/ pants - Gap blazer option
blouse- Loft option option
necklace- thrifted option
bracelets- gifts option option
Worn August 13, 2014

I try not to complain much here, but I titled this post the way I did because I had such a hard week last week when I wore this outfit. I hope I don't have a week like that again anytime soon.

I am growing tired of my wardrobe but I know there are many combinations left in it. When this block hits, I turn to mixing basics. I've worn this top a couple of ways already, but saw an ad that made me think I need to try it with my black and navy suits. I picked the black one first. I think it will look better with navy. It's hard to tell what color it is. Due to lighting it looks more blue here, but other times it looks grey.

Have a great weekend!

Ruched sleeves

Blazer- Belks option
top- Belks option option
pants- JCPenney similar
shoes- Old option option
Worn August 6, 2014

Can I whine a little? I'm tired. I cannot seem to get rested anymore. I'm not getting to bed early enough and therefore, not getting up in time for workouts. And it's a vicous cycle of feeling bad. I'm tired of work, tired of church, tired of chores... It seems everyday is a repeat of work, cook, wash dishes, go to bed (late) and repeat. The hubby and I are doing some fun things on the weekends but sometimes that subtracts from rest too. I've got to find a happy median. And I've got to shut up and go to bed.

Thanks for listening.

I purchased this top and blazer together at the same time, same store because they appeared to be made for each other. I've worn the blazer other ways, but need to mix the top up some. Oh, and I'm tired of my wardrobe. Some days I think I just cannot possibly come up with one more outfit.

A Rainy Day

Worn July 11, 2014

Any day during a summer in south Georgia is likely to turn into a rainy day with thunderstorms. That's what happended the day I wore this outfit. This is pretty basic but spiced up with some peep toes shoes and a statement necklace. I've been stuck on a blue and white color palette lately. You will be seeing more of it.
