Amidst my gray days and outfits, I interjected a pop of color. I love how this bright pink jacket paired with the black and white check pants. I've got more outfits planned with these pieces. Why is it that I can not wear something for months, and then suddenly I have 4 or 5 outfits in my head using that piece? Like this white shirt. I haven't worn my white button up in a long while, but now every outfit I come up with includes the white button up. I refuse to wear it five days in a row, so I'll have to come up with something else and wear it maybe once a week. Same for the pants. Suddenly two or three more outfits come to mind with them. Why can't I just as easily come up with a weeks work of outfits with different pieces? Why is it that the same pieces keep calling to us over and over at times?

I'll stop asking questions now.

How do you stay warm without over layering? Add a blanket scarf. I recently picked up this olive (oregano) high/low tunic sweater from JCPenney with a gift card and I knew my blanket scarf would be the perfect match. The sweater is pretty great on its own- vneck, super soft and longer in the back.  I 've seen my blanket scarf lying next to my olive utility vest and loved how it looked against olive (an outfit with those two pieces is coming too).  I also love the contrast of cognac boots against black. I'm pretty sure there was a day that I would not have worn brown on black, but I love it now.

My only complaint about a blanket scarf is that it doesn't work well with my hair. It's not long enough to flow over nor short enough to stop short of so it kind of just bubbles up on top of the scarf. Oh well- just something I'll tolerate for a while. There was too much going on around my face with the hair and scarf, so no earrings. I opted for a chunky bracelet to accessorize a little more.

I told you yesterday I was in a grey mood last week. Here is another grey outfit. I love the two shades with the black and white stripes and the pop of leopard. My mood has improved but the grey outfits may continue. I love grey as a soft neutral in the winter.

Grey days

If you follow me on Instagram, then you got a sneak peek of this outfit last week, as well as a peek of how I took the top pieces to a casual look with jeans and different booties.

I was in a really down mood last week so I had some literal and figurative "grey days". I guess it's fitting that I wore the color two days in a row. I actually found this to be a cozy and comfortable outfit and I love taking my pencil skirts into winter with tights and booties.

I meant to get a post up last Friday but I took the day off work and spent it doing a major closet purge, and didn't get the post up. I can't say that I have that wonderful feeling everyone talks about with "less is more" and I have so much more room in my closet now. I do have a cleaner and more orderly closet but still not the room I'd like to have. I think the issue is that my whole wardrobe goes in there. Sweaters, sweats, tees, and things like that are in my dresser, but every season is in one of those two places. So, I'm curious- do you switch out the items in your closet season to season and store things? and if so, where do you store them? I don't have room to store items elsewhere and in the South we really only have two seasons, not four. Most of my clothing (75-80%)  can be worn year round so there's no real need to store things. If I did, the attic definitely wouldn't be the place because it gets too hot and humid up there in the summer. Dyes and inks would literally run and my clothes would be ruined. I'd love to hear how you handle your wardrobe and storage.

It's really hard to have a capsule because I have a work wardrobe, and a casual one. I'd really like it if the two could merge more. I did let go of a lot of items that I've tried to force myself to wear over the last couple of years because I just don't love them anymore and having them there thinking I should wear them is stressful. It does feel better to not have them there. Some things will be donated and some of it is being listed on Poshmark. Feel free to check out my closet if you like.

Saturday Shopping- Finds under $25

Last week's Saturday shopping post got a lot more views than normal, so that tells me I hit the nail on the head when I said we were all spent out or vowed to save money. Nonetheless, it's still fun to shop and find good deals. Here's another round up of items under $25! Items are either already under $25 or final price with retailer's coupon or reduction will be under $25.

This round up includes some basics like the JCrew stripe turtleneck, some girly statement pieces like the lace skirt from Loft and some just for fun stuff like the pineapple pencil holder and Braids, Buns and twists book!

Happy Shopping!
