Fair Isle

Fair Isle

Beanie, socks, leggings, sweater

Are you a fan of fair isle?  It refers to the pattern of knitting that creates geometrical shapes and patterns with repeated colors. I have a grey sweater that I bought at Target last year that has yellow and pink in it. It seemed to call me out every time I went in the store, so I had to have it. Sadly, it has never made an appearance on the blog. I have worn it a couple of times. Fair isle seems to be growing more in popularity this year so check out the collection below. It's not limited to sweaters- it's on gloves, scarves, leggings, slippers, etc.

I wore this outfit Sunday to church and to our Sunday School Christmas party afterwards. We teach a college and career age Sunday School class (18-30) and they are so much fun. They had an ugly Christmas sweater theme party but I don't have an ugly Christmas sweater and couldn't find one at a thrift, so I just went with one of my favorite sweaters. The color lends itself perfectly to the holidays.

I wore tights again for the second time this season. I think some of the below options in tights would be perfect for holiday parties:

This jacket is twenty (or more) years old. Shocking isn't it? Do you have anything in your closet that old that you would still wear?

My brother gave me this coat as a gift way back when. I wore it every chance I could, but our warm tropical climate and my lifestyle don't allow for it much anymore. I was in college when I received this, but I don't find it office appropriate now. I put this outfit together to attend JekyllCon with my hubby. While I'm not into comic heros, lots of folks are and many were going in costume. He went as a zombie because a group of friends were going as Walking Dead characters. I just put together a normal outfit with a throwback to many comic and video heros- many of them wear a trench coat or duster.

Tights

Sweater- JCPenney similar
skirt- JCrew Factory  option  option  option
shoes- Belk/ Ann Klein  similar
necklace- online boutique  option
bracelet- JCPenney  option
tights - old option

This sweater and skirt have been worn many times but not together. There's a first for everything. I got lots of compliments on this outfit at work, especially the skirt. The only problem is that I don't normally wear tights. It's just not usually cold enough for long enough but this year has been a little different so I busted out the tights. However, this skirt isn't lined and it just didn't lay well against the tights. Any suggestions? Longer slip?

I was told by my coworker last week that I looked "springy". I wasn't going for a spring look. I've got lots of sweaters and scarves to wear before I look forward to spring again, but I was certainly going for warmth with layers. And I'm certainly not afraid to interject a little color into a winter day.

The last time I wore this patterned shirt, I wore it by itself in a casual outfit. This time I made it part of my business attire.

Foggy morning

Blazer- Dress Barn  option

I'm talking about the foggy weather last week, not my brain. If I were referencing my brain, every morning would be a foggy morning. To interject some brightness into the gloom, I pulled out my cobalt pants. I know that these pants must work with some other color pallete, but I always seem to wear them with black and white. I guess it keeps them office appropriate. Any suggestions on other office appropriate ways to wear them?
