Saturday Shopping- sale finds

Hello friends! I hope you are having a great weekend. I'm off to a slow start because I'm nursing a cold, but it's not bad enough to stop me from doing a little online window shopping.

JCrew is having a 25% off total with code SHOPNOW

Ann Taylor is giving 40% off total purchase with code YESPLEASE

and Loft has 40% off select items, no code needed.

Here are my picks from each:

Denim skirts in a 70's vibe are everywhere this fall and the Loft denim skirt fits the bill.

I have a chambray dress and it's a great piece to throw on and go or use as a blank pallet for adding fall layers and dressing it up with riding boots, a hat, or scarf, or all three.

Cobalt, marsala and leopard in one piece?! Snatch up this JCrew perfect shirt now.

I'm also having a sale in my Poshmark Closet. Purchase two or more items for 50% off the total!

Happy Shopping!

Okay, even though I said a few weeks ago that I was not letting go of summer, you guys got to me and I started adding a few fall vibes to my outfits. Here I went with a non-seasonal look and added a statement necklace with fall colors.  I just put in place a GYPO work wear challenge 2014 formula of bright top+ black pants+ leopard shoes+ statement necklace. That's easy dressing. Pick any color and it works.

When it comes to print mixing, I love gingham and floral prints together. This shirt paired perfectly with this tiny floral print dress. Our temps took a 15- 20 degree drop over the weekend, so this was the perfect Sunday outfit for a beautiful day. Warm, but not hot, with a tease of fall coming.

I would have normally went for blue or green accessories with an outfit like this but I chose a white bead necklace and a pair of yellow bead earrings. The yellow makes a nice little pop of color with the green and blue.

I recently discovered Bridgette Raes. How have I missed this wealth of information all this time? She has a ton of ideas for us professional working women. She may be a bad influence on my wallet though. I'll explain in a bit. I'm finding unending inspiration at her site. One visit leads me to one suggested post after another, lots of pinning, and lots of searching for new shoes, accessories and items. Some of her suggestions are a bit out of my budget but there is always second hand thrift sites and ebay. You see where this is going?

Not to let all that searching and shopping be in vain, I put together this outfit based on inspiration found from her site. Using the outfits in this post, I came up with my own version. I fell in love with that purse, or rather the color.  I had been contemplating the one above after seeing it in Belk on clearance but ran straight back to the store to get it once I saw how great it looked with all these outfits. I have always stuck to boring purses- black, brown, beige- because I don't swap them out very often. I am adapting though and learning to change my purse a little more often.  Now, for the rest of the outfit. I have a similar navy trumpet shape skirt in my closet but it's, ahem, a little to snug at the moment. I wasn't feeling my navy pencil skirt either, so I went with navy trousers. I don't have mustard pumps or wedges either, but I really liked the pop of that color in the inspiration outfits and remembered I have this necklace. So with just a few switches, I have my own version of one of the inspiration outfits. I may or may not have fallen in love with a necklace in that post too and searched out ebay for it. You'll know in a few posts to come.

If you work in a business professional or business casual environment, there are some basic pieces you need. With these you can add pops of color, pattern and texture with your completer pieces and accessories to build multiple outfits. It will also take the guess work out of "what to wear to work".  A white button up and some tan/khaki (neutral)  pants are two of those basics. A colored blazer  (or cardigan) and leopard belt are two examples of "pops".  Any black, navy, tan, or grey pants will suffice for a neutral. They don't have to be tan. I just happen to like how to red goes with these tan pants for something a little different than red and black.

When I get stumped for outfit ideas I turn to formulas like these. Two basics + two pops.  In this situation, my shoes are neutral but you could wear colored or patterned shoes as one of your pops.

Do you have a favorite formula or formulas for getting dressed?
