How do you stay warm without over layering? Add a blanket scarf. I recently picked up this olive (oregano) high/low tunic sweater from JCPenney with a gift card and I knew my blanket scarf would be the perfect match. The sweater is pretty great on its own- vneck, super soft and longer in the back.  I 've seen my blanket scarf lying next to my olive utility vest and loved how it looked against olive (an outfit with those two pieces is coming too).  I also love the contrast of cognac boots against black. I'm pretty sure there was a day that I would not have worn brown on black, but I love it now.

My only complaint about a blanket scarf is that it doesn't work well with my hair. It's not long enough to flow over nor short enough to stop short of so it kind of just bubbles up on top of the scarf. Oh well- just something I'll tolerate for a while. There was too much going on around my face with the hair and scarf, so no earrings. I opted for a chunky bracelet to accessorize a little more.

I bought this vest a few years back before they were even popular and have struggled to style it and wear it. As long vests and sleeveless blazers  become more popular, it has become a little easier for me to style. Yet, I have several vests of all kinds in my closet and they are not my "go to" pieces. I do like them but just can't remember them or figure them out for me. I like how this outfit turned out. I think it's the color combination I like. I'm a burgundy/oxblood/marsala fan.

Do you have a certain piece of clothing you love but find it to be a challenge for you?

The only difference in this outfit and this one is the pants. I almost didn't post this, but I really do like the olive and orange combination, so I had to share it. Do you have outfits where you change only one thing, but feel like it's so different?

How was your weekend? I'm on a candy hangover. I'm going to have to hit the pavement hard and put in some miles to run those calories off. I really should just pick one lucky kid at the end of the night and give all the leftovers to that one, ha. The parents would love me.

You may remember this scarf and tunic from my tone on tone post. This time I'm paring the rose blush tunic with olive leggings, or shall we say jeggings. These pants come up under "jeans" and have pockets. The front even has a cool moto flair with zippered pockets, but the labeling for these pants says "leggings" and they fit like leggings. I will be keeping my bum covered when wearing these.

I love olive, or sage green, but if it's too masculine or earthy for you, trying pairing it like this with a soft feminine color like blush.

Fall favorites- boyfriend jeans and shades of orange. This was a perfect weekend outfit. This sweater is soft and cozy, yet lightweight- perfect for our form of fall.

I've added a little more fringe to my wardrobe in the form of a crossbody bag. While I love all the fringe heels and booties out there, I'm afraid I won't love them forever so I'm sticking to small amounts of fringe now. I already own a poncho with fringe too so I'm not totally out of the loop.

I'm also loving this necklace. I'm petite with a short torso, so long necklaces (anything past 28 inches) tend to be too long for me. This one is the perfect length and goes with casual and work outfits.

And one more thing- The sweater has a zipper all the way down the back. Business in the front, party in the back! It's another one of my favorite details of this outfit.

Hope you're enjoying a day off!

We hit enough of a dip in temps last weekend that I was able to wear a scarf. I layered it over this marsala/oxblood/burgundy tunic that I found at TJMaxx recently. I have a tie neck top in a similar shade but decided that it was tired after being worn repeatedly for the last few fall seasons. I was on the lookout for a new piece in this color, and was excited when I stumbled over this top. I'm also taking note of cobalt and burgundy/oxblood being mixed together this season, although I should have noticed last year because my scarf is from last season and it was already on trend with the two colors. I was inspire by this Bridgette Raes post to combine the tunic with grey dress pants. I would have loved to have added my cobalt heels, but I was wearing this out to a funeral visitation and had already been on my feet for 8 hours. They just couldn't take heels so I went with these comfy ballet flats.
