The plain black suit needs a little fun added to it, so I went with polka dots. Polka dots on polka dots, but reverse patterns of black and white so each stands out. I have several pieces in polka dot prints. What about you? What pattern repeats itself in your closet?

Super quick post this morning. I've been out of town for work for three days and got home at 9:00 pm last night. My routine will be a little off today because my stuff is still in a suitcase and nothing is prepped for today.

I love the sleeveless trench for warmer days when it's too hot for a blazer. My work often requires a concealment garment and the trench is working well for that. I paired an older Loft top with trousers from this year. That's a plus of repeat shopping with a favorite retailer. There items tend to pair well together even from different seasons.

I'm looking forward to fall but still enjoying summer styles, thus wearing as much white as I can while it's still summer. I bought this skirt last year and only wore it once. I'm debating on whether or not to keep it or sell/donate it. If feels a little short. It also wrinkles horribly. I did wear skimmies with it this time and the length didn't bother me so much. Yet, I'm still not sure this is the most flattering cut for me.

I was rather into pattern mixing last week. I don't know what brought that about, but it is interesting how outfit ideas come to me. Sometimes I will flat out copy someone else, sometimes I take an inspiration and make it mine. Other times, like with this, it comes to me totally on my own accord. I was actually thinking about a prompt from another blog to wear a chambray shirt with a floral skirt and it got me to thinking about my floral skirts. Being that this one has black, the idea popped into my head to wear my black polka dot popover with it. And so another Sunday church outfit was created.

When I put it on, something was missing. Ah, necklace. I was running a bit behind so this was the best I could do. I'd like to have a statement necklace with  a bit more color to go with this, but mint worked.

Navy and camel

I've been wearing a lot of navy and grey lately so I thought I'd lighten it up a little with camel. I really like this blouse paired with the camel trousers. I saw a similar combination on my neighbor at church and decided I need to try it. Love it.

Hold on- Spring is coming...

Red sweater again

It's the red sweater again. This time as a layer over my polka dot popover. Below are three other ways I've worn this sweater. I always seem to wear it with black but I could just as easily create this same outfit and the one below with the  pencil skirt with identical pieces in navy. Or pair it with camel or khaki or tan or...well, you get the idea. I'd say it's a pretty versatile piece.

Have you ever participated in a capsule wardrobe? There's a great explain of capsule wardrobe HERE. I sort of did that after completing my 30x30 remix for the fall season but I could not commit to just 37 pieces or even 44 or any arbitrary number that included shoes. 30x30 was tough trying to include a work wardrobe and an off duty wardrobe. So I think I basically came up with 40-50 work wear pieces that I worked through and this red sweater was one of them. So was the polka dot popover and the cobalt pants that you've seen the last three months. I'm still creating outfits from that capsule. I just didn't put it out here that I was doing that because I knew I'd deviate from it some. Our weather is too crazy as well. I doubt I could commit to a "winter" wardrobe from Jan. to March. It was 70 degrees today and by March I may have shorts out. Who knows? I was surprised that I started needing the sweaters sooner than I thought in the Oct-Dec period. All that said, it did certainly stop the shopping the last couple of months and makes life much easier to have a list of outfits to go to when I'm ready to pick an outfit for the day. What are your thoughts on capsules or wardrobe planning?

One more thing....that fur collar sweater is for sale on Poshmark if you are interested.
