It stormed almost every evening last week. I was in a race with a storm to get these photos taken. It definitely shows in the lighting.

 

This cobalt blazer was one of the pieces I missed during my spring capsule experiment. It's definitely a keeper in my closet. You know if you miss wearing something, then you must love it. The trick is not to overwear it. That was the good thing about the capsule. Some neglected items got some attention and I found some things that I probably should get rid of because they didn't even get much attention during the capsule.

I guess you  know by know that I really like this cobalt color, in  particular these shoes. These shoes run around 22-$30 at Payless depending on sales and they are from their comfort plus line. And they are truly comfortable. I'm not paid by Payless to say that. I don't mind letting you know when something is a great deal. In fact, I've got a pair ordered from this line in nude and bought a black and white pair while they were on sale last week.

 

But this really wasn't about the shoes. It's about the pants. I almost didn't buy them because they were more of a splurge than a need, but I'm glad I did. I've found several outfit possibilities in them during the winter. The last time I wore them I realized I should pair them with a cobalt top. I was originally thinking the cobalt sweater, but decided to go with a lighter layer since the weather is warming up. Silly Mother Nature actually gave me a cold day last week when I wore this and I could have worn the sweater. Oh well.

I seemed to have unintentionally developed a go to formula for my winter work wear- sweater+layered over button up+ skinny pants (or trousers) + heels. I did it here and  here and again with this outfit. What are your go to outfits for staying warm but professional in the winter?

I literally threw this together last week from items that did not need ironing. I was running late and had not ironed or put together an outfit the night before. I was totally unmotivated to create outfits but this worked. My favorite part is the belt. It coordinates with the blouse but pops against the cobalt. This is my limit with brights and neon- two with only a pop of neon.

Yes, I did just wear this blazer and the shoes five days before this outfit. That's what happens when you love certain pieces. I've worn almost the same version of the entire outfit before, but with different shoes and without the necklace.
