I really liked this outfit when I wore it, but I'm not liking how the shirt looks over the jeans in the photos. The jeans are very thick and the fitted tee over them is adding a little too much bulk in the middle. Next time I'll wear them with a looser shirt or do a tuck. Nonetheless, I still like the combination of navy and olive with a denim jacket. The jeans look a little grey here but they are actually a shade of olive.

We had an Ugly Christmas Sweater party with our Sunday School class this past Sunday. I just can't do totally ugly Christmas sweaters, especially when part of the event is in public. Truthfully, I think all Christmas sweaters are ugly, but some are worse than others. I did find this one that had a little fun factor to it on clearance at Belk's, so I played along. I wanted to pair this with boots, but it was too hot for even the sweater, so I went with plaid flats.

Polka dot popover- 9 ways

Blouse- JCrew factory  option  option

worn Nov. 26, 2015

I wore this outfit on Thanksgiving day. I know, it's almost Christmas, so I'm a little behind with outfits.  When I pulled up these pics, I thought about how often I've worn this blouse and how easy it is to dress up or down, so I've made a remix collage of the ways I've worn this blouse in the past. This vest has been just as easy to remix and I'm sad I delayed in purchasing one until this season.

Here are the nine ways to wear a polka dot popover.  If you don't like popovers, a button up will work just the same. And if polka dots aren't your thing, then black and white stripes  would work too.

2. Red blazer+ black pants
3. tweed blazer+ black pants
5. with a grey skirt+ black blazer
6. red blazer + grey pants
7. black blazer + bright pants
8. jeans + vest
9.with a power suit

I'm trying to give this blog it's on social media presence, so I've started a pinterest account just for it. I'll use this one for beauty and fashion related pins, and keep these separate from the other account which included all things and my old craft blog. I'd love it if you followed Savvy Southern Chic on pinterest.

Hair clips- so pretty
Dirty Secret dry shampoo- some days you just don't have time to wash your hair, spritz this brush through, and grab one of those pony holders.

Smashbox set- I splurged and bought this for myself on Cyber Monday.

How do you decide what to wear? Do you keep a running list of "outfits" at least in your head, or do you go into the closet each day and just see what works? I try to shop now with a rule of three- a piece has to work with other items in my closet to create at least three outfits or have three ways to wear it. This means I've at least thought ahead about individual pieces. And sometimes I sit down and create mini capsules with 10-20 pieces so when life gets really busy, I can just look at that list, pull the pieces and go. This outfit was on one of those capsule lists I created last year, but I never got around to wearing it. Sometimes I don't really need that list, but it's always good to have a back up.

Polka dots

Blazer/ Pants- Gap  option/ option    option  option

The plain black suit needs a little fun added to it, so I went with polka dots. Polka dots on polka dots, but reverse patterns of black and white so each stands out. I have several pieces in polka dot prints. What about you? What pattern repeats itself in your closet?

Plaid dress

Dress- Macys  option    option    option
cardigan- JCPenney   option
necklace- online boutique   option   option   option
worn Nov 22 a..m

I warned you a few posts back that there would be an overload of plaid for a bit. Here's yet another plaid item- my plaid shirt dress. I think I'll wear it with a fur vest next.

The cardigan I'm wearing is currently on sale and comes in petite. I have to be careful about proportions so often petite sizes work better for me. Items such as the longer cardigans can be overwhelming and make me feel frumpy but I have been enjoying this one so far.

Happy Hump Day!
