and squints. It was actually overcast when I took these photos but still so bright I was squinting. That doesn't make for good photos. But I still go with what I've got.

I secretly coveted a bow sweater all winter, so when this one showed up at $20 on clearance at Loft, I snatched it up. It's lightweight and will be perfect to wear during spring. And since neutral palettes are so popular right now, who will know if it's a fall or spring piece?

I paired it with my polka dot skirt and below you can see two other ways I've worn this skirt.

Red florals

Before we jump full swing into spring, I decided to wear this blouse I purchased just before Christmas on clearance at Target again. It has potential but didn't make it's way into rotation like it should have, but will be ready to go again in fall.  As for spring- it is floral. That's a little ode to winter and look ahead to spring.

Thoughts on pastels

I could not wait any longer to break out of the winter routine and wear something with a spring touch, so I pulled out these pieces last week. I'm not sure that this really "worked." Do you have that issue with outfits? You know what you are going for, but it just doesn't work? I couldn't decide what would make it work, so you have three versions- blouse tucked/open jacket, blouse tucked/closed jacket, and untucked and open jacket. First off, I think it would work better with cream or ivory pants or white pants, but I don't have any. I need to fix that because every time I try to think up a spring ensemble, one of those color pants comes to mind as a base, especially if there is a lot of pastel up top, like this.

Which brings me to my thoughts on pastels... My co-worker complimented me and said I looked all "Eastery". Wait, was that a compliment? Did she mean I looked like an Easter egg? That's my fear and dislike of pastels, that I will look like an Easter egg. I like pastels done right in small doses with other neutrals, but too many, is... well, just an Easter egg. I guess I just like "summer brights" better.

What are you thoughts? What would make this work, or should I just scrap it? What do you think about pastels?

Mornings are not good times to take photos for me. Note the puffy eyes. I do better to wait until the evening, but I wasn't sure if there would be daylight when I returned home on this day, so I went ahead and snapped the photos in the morning.

I got this jacket for a steal ($7) on clearance a couple of years ago, but don't wear it much (last seen here). I do like it so I pulled it out of the closet. I'm going to try and wear it more. Styling suggestions, links to pin, etc. are welcome.

Green for St. Patty's Day

It rained all day long. Literally. It was raining when I left for work and still drizzling when I returned. I even took these photos in a slight drizzling rain. But it didn't damper my Irish spirits. I donned my green skirt for work and made it "business like" with a classic white button up and navy blazer. For a little more fun, I added the green statement necklace.

It got this necklace as a gift for Christmas but I've had trouble working it into an outfit. I like statement necklaces but I don't think I would have picked this for myself. How would you style it?

Plaid and dots

This top has become a work horse in my wardrobe. I thought I was getting black dots when I purchased it but realized it was navy the first time I wore it. Nonetheles, navy is a great neutral as well and I've gotten lots of use out of it. I have not run out of ways to wear it and there are more to come. It can be both dressy and casual. Last week I wore it to work, and previously I've worn it as a casual piece. (details here)
