You can tell a few things from my photos and posts. 1- it's been a bit breezy in the afternoons (photo 3) . 2- I'm still a little behind on posting last months outfits. 3- I really like these nude shoes from Payless.

These shoes are like my summer go to version of black pumps in the winter. I'm sure the black pumps appreciate the break.

I hope everyone had a great Mother's Day!

Belted cardigan

Cardigan- JCPenney  option  option
dress- Old Navy  option  option
belt- Limited  option  option
shoes- Unlisted via Belk  option
worn May 3, 2015

I have decided that the belted cardigan look is not for me. I've tried it a couple of other times and it just does not flatter. I have a short torso and belting a cardigan tends to emphasize that and make me look thicker. If a cardigan doesn't lay nice and smooth it adds more rolls and bulges. Who wants that?

I could have ditched this post but I decided to share it anyway because the outfit idea might still work for someone else. It might also help someone evaluate what works or doesn't work for them and why. I love this look on others.

Chevron

Top- TJMaxx  option  option

I have worn this blouse a couple of times with coordinating blazers but it's so cute, it needed a chance to shine on it's own. I paired it with cobalt pants for a church outfit. Minus a blazer, this wouldn't go over well at work but I loved it this way for church or for a lunch or party maybe. The back has a cute little tie detail that always gets covered by blazer.

Here are the last two ways I wore the top:

I finally got around to wearing the hot pink pencil skirt I put in my spring capsule. I can't believe how quickly a month went by! It's already May now and summer will be quickly approaching.  I guess this has become another little outfit formula for me- black/ white on top + a colorful bottom. You could use this with pants, casual shorts outfits, or any style of outfit.
Do you see the cute little peep toe pumps? A co-worker gave them to me! We wear the same size shoe and she brought me 7 pairs of shoes that she cannot wear because she really needs a narrow shoes and once she wears a pair twice she decides she can't wear them. Free shoes?! Yes please.

I last wore this top with black pants and a colorful blazer:

Raining on my parade

Jacket- Sears (old)  option
blouse- Loft via Poshmark   option  option  option
pants- Loft
necklace- gift
shoes- Payless   option  option
Worn April 28, 2015

I try not to complain, especially not here, but life is raining on my parade right now. I'm not going into great detail but I'm beating myself up over something I feel like I could have done better last week. I know that the experience will ultimately be good and this is how we learn, but I'm having a frustrating and painful learning curve right now.

And it rained (literally) the first couple of days this week, but I didn't let it stop the outfit pics. I picked up my favorite butterfly umbrella that was a perfect backdrop to this butterfly top and went to work in the drizzle.  I threw this blazer in the mix of the capsule because I really needed to challenge myself to wear it in ways differently than I had been. I've always gone to brown with it, but I'm loving it with this top.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!
