Transitioning with gingham

How do you transition to fall when it's still 90 degrees outside? With a dark color but lightweight gingham button up and a skirt, of course! Add some leopard flats and you've got instant fall vibes. Even thought I consider leopard a year round neutral, I turn to it more in the fall. Had it not been 90 degrees out, I might have gone with more of a fall twist with booties, a felt hat and a bandana scarf at the neck, but I'm sure I would have turned heads, and for the wrong reasons, in our town had I done that. Most folks haven't given up shorts and tee shirts yet.

How do you transition to fall?

Business casual

shoes- Payless  option option

earrings- JCP  option  option
lips- Smashbox

For just a couple of days each year, we get to dress business casual on my job as opposed to business attire. That means these sandals would not be allowed at the office, but are allowed at training or a conference. I eagerly took the opportunity to wear these wide leg pants again with a tee, and threw on a blazer to keep it on the business side (and to keep warm in those cold conference rooms.)

Hope your week is off to a great start!

Pumpkin spice and everything nice- Saturday Shopping

Fall is coming (at least on the calendar - in my climate one would not know otherwise) and along with it all of it's rich glorious colors. For the next few weeks, we will be exploring those colors.  One of my favorite fall colors is what Pantone is calling Potter's Clay this year. Call it rust, pumpkin spice, or orange. Here's a collection of some great pieces in that color, all under $100, except for the dress, and most under $50.

Summer to fall work wear

Cardigan- Belk  option  option
blouse- Target  option  option
pants- Loft
belt- thrifted option
shoes- Payless  option  option
necklace- JCrew Factory
earrings- Sears option
bracelets- JCP/ Ann Taylor  option option

I  consider this blouse strictly a spring/ summer piece, but  I couldn't resist wearing it one more time. Paired with black pants and the olive cardigan, it makes a nice transition outfit from summer to fall.

I'm so glad this short week is over. I probably shouldn't even say that, just be grateful it was a short week, but things are getting busy again. Hope you had a good week. Enjoy the weekend.

Late summer vacation style

Boatneck Top- Forever21 - option  option
shorts- JCP  option
necklace- JCrew Factory  option
shoes- JCP  option options option
hat- Sears option option
sunnies- Ray-ban

I rarely get out of my pajamas or exercise clothes on weekends or holidays if I don't have to go somewhere. Monday was the exception. I decided to throw this on after my run and shower. No makeup, other than trying out a sample of Urban Decay matte stark naked lipstick I had lying around.

This is an outfit I wear repeatedly on our fall or early summer vacations, but it's never made the blog, so I decided to take some shots and share it. It's comfy but sporty. The hat keeps the sun from baking my head and the shoes are comfy. If you live a cooler climate, you could swap the shorts for joggers or cargo pants. You could pair this with olive pants instead of khaki. I love olive and red. Jewelry is minimal- just a long tassel necklace. I find that long necklaces are more tolerable in the heat vs shorter ones that hang closer to my neck.

What's your go to weekend or vacation outfit?
