I really want to wear fall clothes but sometimes they just don't fit into a business attire wardrobe. The weather hasn't been cooperating the last couple of weeks either. So I dress for work and the temperature. Sometimes I push the envelope with the conservative environment I'm in by wearing things like this blingy bauble statement necklace. It's fun but the rest of the outfit is fairly conservative. To keep things from getting boring I'm going with color. Not exactly a fall outfit, but I was dressed for work. Once again, I took inspiration from Bridgette Raes for putting these colors together. (see outfit 3 in her post.)

It was in the 80's the day I wore this outfit and these burgundy jeans are a pretty thick winter weight. I was struggling not to melt away in this, but determined to wear some fall items. I was inspired by a GYPO challenge member to put these pieces together. I have no way to link to her since the forum is private, but that's the fun thing about GYPO style challenges- you get so much inspiration from real down to earth ladies.

I thrifted this silk camp shirt a few years back but have rarely worn it. It's one of those items that I can't part with because I keep thinking it must be a useful item and a must have, yet I struggle to style it.  Do you have those pieces in your closet?

So, it's 38 days to Christmas! Yikes! Have you started shopping or do you wait? If you need some ideas make sure you check out my For the Hostess ideas or any of my Saturday shopping posts.

Saturday shopping- hostess gift guide

We are kicking off our holiday celebrations today with Thanksgiving at the in-laws so I've got hosting and parties on my mind. It also means I've got to get in gear with my shopping. Do you have a friend or family member that loves to throw a party or lay down an awesome spread? Here are some gift ideas for that hostess in your life:

Hostess gifts

Kate Spade Ampersand serving tray - Cute and trendy but useful too.

I know I love cheese and crackers when we have finger foods, so why not gift a nice bamboo cheese tray?

Every hostess knows most everyone likes chocolate. How fun is this chocolate fountain?

Serving beverages is a must for any get together. This double beverage dispenser would make a perfect gift for the hostess. Don't forget the coasters.

A classic dip set and some dish towels for clean up are great ideas too.

Hope this gives you a little help with holiday shopping if you haven't started or finished yet.

Happy shopping!

I wore this outfit to work the Monday after Halloween. I guess I subconsciously still had Halloween on my brain. I didn't even give the spooky holiday any thought when I went through my pinterest boards the night before and put this together. When I was completely dressed and about to walk out the door, it hit me that I should have worn this the week before because it looked like a Halloween outfit. What can I say? I'm known to be late. Halloween aside, the thought process that went into this was "rust orange top + black pants + beige blazer+ cap toe shoes + long gold necklace." You could create this look with any bright colored top, as seen here with red.

A beige blazer makes a good wardrobe workhorse. Check out my post Beige blazer- 4 ways for more ideas. I could probably do another "ways to wear it" post with different looks I've created since then.

I'm still infatuated with this purse and this necklace. I'm still using inspiration from Bridgette Raes  on how to use these pieces but doing my own mix and matching and substituting pants for the skirt.

I also find myself unintentionally carrying a water bottle or tumbler that matches or coordinates with my outfit. I don't do it intentionally. I drink only water or coffee and take a water bottle every day to work. I have blue, green, orange and pink and often find that the one I pull from the cabinet matches my outfit. I couldn't resist including my monogrammed Tervis tumbler in my photos when I realized how well it matched my outfit. If you need a gift idea for someone, these tumblers would make a great gift. Get a plain tumbler and have it monogrammed in your color choice and purchase a matching lid. Lids come in all colors.

Here's a look at a couple of looks from September with the purse and necklace:
