Light and bright

Going light and bright again with the business wear. It's my feeble attempt to make myself think it's not really 100 degrees outside. But it is and it's hot. Work should be cancelled for the summer.

Seriously, chartreuse can be a hard color to play with, but I love it paired with grey. Almost as much as my previous pairing of chartreus and cobalt. I could have chosen grey pumps with this, but I thought the cognac gave this outfit a little more interest. What are some of your favorite color pairings?

Spring suit

I said something similar the last time I wore this suit, but I really like having this lighter color in a suit for spring and summer. This blouse has been around for a while and almost made a closet purge, but I noticed that it had a hint of grey in the flowers and decided it would be perfect with this. I'm pretty happy with the results.

Sometimes you just need to look polished and professional and not overdone. Those are the days I reach for my black suit. A pastel top and long strand of faux pearls keep it from looking too "heavy" for spring.

This strand of pearls belonged to my aunt who passed away when I was five. My cousin passed on some of her jewelry to me. She was a beautiful red head and loved clothes and jewelry. I'm sure we would have been the best of friends if she had lived longer.

The power of pastels

Sometimes you just want to tone it down a bit but still feel confident and ready to take on the day. A lighter color power suit with a pastel blouse can accomplish just that. I recently updated from an older light grey suit to this one from The Limited. I like having a lighter color suit in my wardrobe for spring and summer. Sometimes navy and black just get too heavy.

Pastel power

How many times and ways can I wear this suit? As many as needed. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, if you work in a business attire environment, a good power suit is a must. A good neutral color one can be paired with an unlimited amount of tops, shoes and accessories. This time I'm pairing my grey suit with a new pink floral top from The Limited. My accessories turned out to be too "matchy" but overall, the look still worked.

Blush and grey

Suit- old  option option  option

I recently wore this suit with a bright coral blouse. I toned it down a few shades this time with a blush blouse and went with metallic pumps. I actually came up with this by playing along with a couple of challenges on Instagram.

Hope you had a great weekend. Ours was super busy, so I'm keeping this short. We photographed the Kilwins Ice Cream run for the Clarke Schools for hearing and speech this weekend in. If any of you are in the Jacksonville, Florida area and ran it or know of runners, photos will be available soon here.
