I have a few colored pencil skirts in my collection, and I highly recommend you add one or two, especially if you have to dress for a professional business environment. There would be nothing wrong with wearing this top and cardigan with a black pencil skirt or a grey one, but it would be kind of flat and boring. A pop of color adds a little interest and still keeps it work appropriate.
 
I've also added this pair of wedge pumps to my closet. They are replacing my regular pointed toe pumps that have seen too much wear. I've considered the wedge pump before but haven't found the right pair until now. I tend to have decent luck with Franco Sarto, especially at TJMaxx . Sometimes boots in this brand fail me as far as fit, but other shoes seem to fit well and be comfortable for me.

I'm still pleasantly surprised at how many options I have for this plum skirt. This blouse should have been the first thing that came to mind but it wasn't until I hung it in the closet that I realized this blouse would be the perfect partner for this skirt.

Notice something different? I'm wearing nail polish. I haven't done this in years. I keep my toes nails polished but stopped with my finger nails years ago. I never have time for it or time to wait for it to dry before I'm doing something with my hands. But... I recently became infatuated with grey nails for fall and for the last two weeks I've kept my nails done with this bluish grey color from Revlon. The hubby even thinks this is a pretty color.  (I paint them while I'm watching The Walking Dead on Sunday nights. I dunk them in ice water to set and then go straight to bed after the show. So far, no smudges or dents.)

This skirt is no longer available. I picked it up last season, but still love it. You may be intimidated by a pattern like this, but you can pretty much treat this one like a solid mustard skirt and pair it with a variety of tops. I was inspired by a pin I saw to pair it with cobalt. It was actually cool enough for my tall boots last weekend (at least with a skirt), so I pulled them out.

 I love it when fall and winter present the opportunity to wear rich, vibrant jewel tones. They are not my go to colors, but I do like them for mixing things up once in a while. I ordered this skirt during the Nordstrom anniversary sale. It's a nice thick skirt with the perfect amount of stretch. I was hesitant about the color but I have lots of things in my closet to pair it with so I kept it. This paring was a little bit of a wild card pairing and a little out of my comfort zone, but I liked the end result. The leopard shoes and tortoise necklace and watch subtly tie it together.

I styled two more pieces from my 30x30 remix from last year. I wore this blouse with grey pants during the remix but not with the skirt. A year later this feels fresh and new. For some reason, I gravitate to leopard more in the fall, but it's a classic that can be worn year round. If you are trying to build a classic remixable wardrobe, invest in a grey pencil skirt and nude pumps. Grey goes with anything that black goes with and so do the nude pumps.

Green pencil skirt= ten ways

Good morning! If we can survive this week, most of us will have a long weekend this weekend and a short week next week! There is light at the end of the tunnel.

Pencil skirts are great for office environments. Don't think you have to stick with black, navy, grey, or khaki. Add some color. Here are ten ways I've worn my green pencil skirt.
