Polka dot blazer three ways

I saw the JCrew polka dot Regent blazer on line and thought it would be a fun piece to have. I mean, it's a polka dot blazer! I like to have at least three ways to wear an item in mind before I buy it so I thought I'd create three looks for you with this blazer.

JCrew blazer three ways

Two of these looks would be great for the office and one is casual.

1. Throw it on over a shirtdress and add a fun stripe pump for a little print mixing. It would be cute over this print shirtdress too.

2. Get a little more print mixing on by pairing it with a oxford stripe shirt.

3. Throw it over a graphic tee with some boyfriend jeans for a casual look.

How would you wear it? It would be great with pops of color too, but I stuck to monochromatic looks here.

Blush blazer

necklace- Poshmark  option  option

Hello Monday and hello Spring! Of course we are going to have another one of those March cool fronts, so the calendar is a bit of a tease. Nonetheless, I like to freshen up my wardrobe for spring. I don't have too many items that I consider "spring" because it's such a short season for us in terms of temps. I've been wanting to add a little more pastel and blush pink, so I did just that with a recent Limited sale.

Adding interest with accessories

Blazer- Dorothy Perkins  option   option
blouse- old  option
skirt- old  option  option
scarf- Tuesday Morning   option   option  option   option
boots- shoes.com  option   option  option
earrings- gift  option  option

Without this scarf, I think an outfit of a camel blazer, white blouse and brown skirt would be pretty boring. So I'm all for accessories. This scarf gives some color and interest to the outfit. I must admit, I probably wouldn't have come up with this on my own. There isn't a stitch of brown in the scarf, but with the deep burgundy and blues, it still works with brown. I was inspired by this pin and outfit created by Bridgette Raes. I went with burgundy earrings to tie in the scarf a little more.

How do you jazz up neutral pieces?

A touch of serenity

Blazer- Ann Klein via Lord and Taylor  option  option
blouse- Loft  option  option
pants- Loft
shoes- Payless  option option
purse- Belks  option  option  option
necklace- JCP option option
earrings - Sears  option  option

A great purse or satchel in serenity is an easy way to add a touch of the color of the year to your wardrobe. I couldn't resist pairing this purse against the harder stellar blue and grey in my outfit. And who says you can't wear white in winter? I love this blazer as much for winter as I do summer. I ordered three pair of these pants from Loft during one of their holiday sales. So far I love them, but they are a heavier weight and I won't be able to wear them year round. Sad about that.

Don't forget that Savvy Southern Chic is now on Instagram. I'd love for you to follow me. You'll get a peeks of style, food, and maybe occasionally something crafty. I'd love to get back into scrapbooking this year. Do you have a hobby you've forsaken and would like to get back into this year?

Checkin' it twice

Makin' a list, checkin' it twice... oh wait, that was last week. Christmas is over. I hope you had a great one and all your wishes came true.

I couldn't help it with the title. These checkered pants are just so much fun. These were a "for me" purchase while Christmas shopping. I've been wanting to add some more work appropriate slim leg pants to my wardrobe but I have a hard time finding them to fit. Slim or straight leg usually means slim all the way from the waist down and that's not going to work for this curvy girl.  I sized up a couple of sizes with these and was pleased with the results. They were on sale, so they were mine.

I will try to photograph them better next time. I need to make some adjustments to the lens I've been using. I hope adjustments correct a focus problem with it. If not, I'll be looking for a new 50mm lens.

I've set up a new Pinterest account just for Savvy Southern Chic. I'd love it if you'd follow me. I'll be posting outfits there now. I've also taken the plunge into yet another time suck, I mean, social media outlet- Instagram. I'd love it if you followed me there too.

Basic changes

Blazer- Ross  option  option
blouse- Limited  option  option
pants- Gap  option  option
scarf- Target (old)  option  option  option
booties- Sears  option  option option

Remember this jacket and pants from the " just some basics" post? Basics like blazers and pants can be major workhorses in a wardrobe and can be worn over and over to create different looks. I changed the blouse and shoes (for booties)  and swapped the necklace for a scarf. I have a brand new outfit with just a few changes.
