This is one of my favorite "go-to" outfits when it's cold- jeans, riding boots, sweater, button-up. I went with a light flannel button up for some pattern interest. It was actually cool enough Saturday for heavier layers but I knew most of my time would probably be spent indoors and I didn't want to roast indoors. We had Thanksgiving with the in-laws. Both sets of parents tend to crank up the heat when it gets a little cold, so there is no way to dress for the season and be comfortable inside too.

The temps started dropping again Friday after that 80 degree day I complained about earlier last week, so I took the opportunity to wear some of my seasonal favorites- a sweater, scarf, and boots. I wore the sweater with a pencil skirt HERE when it was warmer. The addition of a scarf and boots with this easy formula let me take this outfit into colder temps.

Pop of color

I've been wearing a lot of black and grey lately (here and here). I love the classic, neutral palette for fall and winter. I added a pop of color with my burgundy shoes.

Here's where I wore these grey pants a while back with another neutral-leopard.

Hope everyone had a great weekend. We got an early start on holiday celebrations by having Thanksgiving with my in-laws Saturday.

Buffalo plaid and stripes

I consider a buffalo plaid a must have for fall/winter. It's also a piece that will be a classic and stick around. Those are the reasons I promptly went to Old Navy and purchased myself a brand new plaid shirt this week, (using rewards so I didn't pay much). I received one last Christmas as a gift and wore it a couple of times last winter, but the fit was not quite right. I tried to wear it again last weekend and decided that an ill fitting shirt would not do. The old one will get posted in my Poshmark closet.

This one will get worn regularly if the temps will stay down. After a chilly morning, Tuesday afternoon was 80 degrees, so most of the day this shirt was worn tied around my waist as shown in the last pick.

Do you have a favorite item that you would run out and replace right away?

Are you gearing up for holiday shopping? If you're like me and do a lot of it online, don't forget to sign up at ebates so you get cash back from your shopping. I've made a little over $25 in a short time. That's not huge, but I'll take it. Check them out here.

Another simple pairing that didn't take much thought or effort. A blouse+pencil skirt. Add some fun shoes and a necklace. Done. I've been wearing pencil skirts a lot lately because all you really have to do is add a top and you look polished. It makes for a less stressful morning.

And look at those leaves in my pics? They've gotten the message about fall but the thermostat hasn't. It was 80 degrees Tuesday! Come on, mother nature, just chill out. (pun intended)

Said I wouldn't...but I did

When camo first came on the fashion scene, I said I would not wear it as a fashion item. Camo was for rednecks and deer hunters in my home town. Well, a sweet deal on a subdued grey camo skirt from Loft change my mind. I happened to be in one of their stores last month and it was on clearance with 40% off that- total= $16. So now I'm wearing camoflauge. Who knows? you may see me in my old green camo tee.
